Hotchkis weld-on sway bar tabs LCA
« on: July 11, 2015 - 02:23:43 PM »
Has anyone used the Hotchkis weld-on sway bar tab for lower control arms without the factory tab? Is there a specific place to line these up with?  These should work with factory sway bars, right?

I'm seeing the LCAs without factory tab (at least the ones I have) have a raised bump on them so the tab does not fit flush. I am planning to cut the tab in order for it to sit flush.  On the factory LCAs with sway bars, the side is smooth where the tab is welded.

I'm trying to reinforce this second set so I can simply swap them instead of pulling them off, reinforcing and the putting them back on.

Any feedback on my thought process?  Thanks.

When I added mine, I mocked up the sway bar to get the position of the tabs where I wanted them. Then I had to grind a notch in them to mate against the ridge. Once this was done, then I just welded them on.

Since your arms are off and you want to set them up first, You might mount the sway bar, align it to the current arm and mark where you want the tabs, then transfer those marks to the replacement arm.

I had to weld the sway bar tabs onto my LCA.  I found a factory diagram on this site with the correct measurements as to where to weld the tabs.  I don't have a link handy.   It is actually a well made piece with nice thick metal.  I have Addco sway bars attached to mine.
