So, give us your feedback:

I hope everyone had a good time at Carlisle this year.  Personally I wish I had spent more time enjoying the sights and sounds, but I wasted a bit of it at the autocross - only to get knocked to second place at the last minute!

But I digress...  :)

Ash and I always strive to make Carlisle an easy experience for folks, from finding a hotel to the organized get-togethers for lunch and dinner(s).  The criticism can be rough sometimes, as there's only so much we can control, but we still look for people's ideas and suggestions to make the next year better than the last.

So let me know what you thought about:

Our hotel (the Quality Inn in New Cumberland, if you stayed there)
The club tent
The pizza party on Friday night
The club lunch on Saturday
The club Dinner at Dodge City Saturday evening

There is a new hotel right across from the Quality Inn that I intend to call this week to get rate information for next year.  There's also a new brew pub in Mechanicsburg that we visited on Sunday to survey for a possible Saturday night dinner next year.  So we have new options cropping up in case people want to try something new.

Lastly, in the interest of not making too many posts, I'm going to add a poll to this one to help us decide on what to do about hotels next year.

Thanks!

First let me say a big THANK YOU to you and Ashley. You really went out of your way to make everyone feel welcome, have fun, do a little  :drunk. Also the entertainment you brought ( Viper Baby) kept me in stitches watching her running around.

I really enjoyed meeting everybody and generally partying   :drunk:, sharing stories and general bs,ing.

Ok ,  1. The hotel was ok, 3 on a 5 scale. I had problems with lighting, A/C was great, it was clean, fridge not cold enough for the  :drunk:
           2. Club tent was awesome, but might need more room in the future. I have no problem chipping in some $$$

           3. I missed the pizza party, I was exhausted. Just getting old.   :stomp: :pullinghair:

           4. Lunch, AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!   Thank you again   :cooldancing:

           5. Dinner, AWESOME.  A little cramped though, but a good time was had by all.

One suggestion if I may. Jim mentioned it and 4C said HELL NO   :roflsmiley:, but name tags in the tent would help people that may be a little shy, or just so you could look at a tag and say hey, I'm   :bigshades:  Just a thought.

Anyway, thank you again, you guys are the bomb.   :cooldancing: :bigshades: :drunk:

Again, the placed I stayed at was fantastic ( if your looking for options?) Park Inn Radisson
http://www.parkinn.com/harrisburgwestpa
I've stayed here a few times over the years. This year I stayed here as a buddy picked up the tab for my room for helping him install an engine, other wise I would have stayed with everyone else.
Lots of parking for trailers, amazing Irish pub with fantastic food!  I ate there 4 times that weekend. An outside bar/nighclub 2 pools one outside , one indoors, but the part I though would be nice is the private tents they had set up with a BBQ pit out back. I could picture a few people out there till all hours of the morning!  :grinyes: Lots of grassy area's with picnic tables. Rooms were great too?
Just a option? .... :dunno:

Jeff:    You and your family do an outstanding job of making everyone feel welcome.   Obviously, we all thoroughly enjoyed your lunch .... and I was especially fond of your beer!     Simply Outstanding!    Thank you for all you do for us.....  it's quite an effort and very much appreciated.

If there were an alternative to the hotel, I would suggest looking into it.   While we may miss the "upper parking lot" -- perhaps we can replace it with something close at another location.   The hotel is getting rather tired......

Again, another huge success - and much of the credit goes to you and Ashley.

Many thanks
Doug

I asked the guys I stayed with, they said around 99 for 2 nights 119 for the other night? But they were not 100% certain?

oh ya.... the waitresses wore small little skirts and white socks too.  :stirpot: :roflsmiley: ( really they did!)

Fascinating - I didn't realize that was the hotel you were talking about - right off the rt 11 exit off of 581.  There's always people staying there for Carlisle - my fear would be getting everyone a room.  We'd have to book NOW to make sure enough rooms were available.  (We've learned that reserving blocks of rooms always ends up costing more.)

Let me call the new Holiday Inn Express in New Cumberland and we'll pick a place from there!

The Quality Inn finally had  continuous HOT water this year. Only lasted couple minutes the  past few years.
Dam A/C kept me awake most of first night .  Turned it off.
I for one look for low prices.
I am not living there only sleeping.  Most motel rooms look the same.
Brads input on Park Inn looks desirable.  Drive straight to Carlisle on 11.

Jeff and Ashley - a great big thanks for everything!!!!   It was our first time to Carlisle (first time for any "car" show outside local drive-ins and fundraising "shows") .... could not have been made any better:  the arrangements and more so people .... just awesome group !!!!

Brad's hotel sounds like best of all:  big enough parking for trailers and hanging out (Holiday Inn express across from where we stayed I doubt can accommodate that), facilities (2 pools), dining (so don't have to walk or drive to pizza hut for food or beer), and nice route to drive to Carlisle.  I'd vote for that one for sure!

I didn't get there this year but I did last year. Not sure yet about next year. The Radison that Brad suggested sounds really good but could be a bit more money. I'll throw this out as food for thought: Let's say we make a decision to stay there next year. Jeff is saying we need to book it now and I don't disagree. Those who are unsure if they are going may not want to book but usually you can book a room and as long as you cancell it at least 48 hours ahead there is no charge/no problem. So let's decide where and then get the rooms booked. Failing to plan is planning to fail.

I think the best thing about the time spent after the show is visiting with the other members in the parking lot!  I wish all the members that go to the show would stay at the same hotel so we could hang afterwards . . . . I really enjoy that part of the Carlisle experience!  If we try to stay close to the show, I assume the hotel will fill up and them some members will not be able to stay there.  Viperboy is checking the new hotel that was just built this year on rates and I think it is a good idea to stay some distance from the show so everyone would have a chance for a room and the rates typicaly are cheaper the farther  . . . plus a new hotel should still be in very good condition next year.

This years show went pretty well, the tent seemed to hold everyone and the extra tent for the food also worked out good and left enough space for all the chairs.  Pizza party was decent and certainly had enough for all with only one pie left.  Saturday dinner went the best it has ever with 2 waitresses and the food seemed to come out quickly . . . I think it improves every year but am open for something different if everyone wants to.

I guess the bottom line is I will follow where ever but certainly would like all the members to be together at the same hotel as I really go for the members more than the car show.  Already looking forward to next year . . . .  :2thumbs:

Jeez, it turns out that we stayed at the Radisson Harrisburg in Camp Hill on June 27th and I didn't have a clue it was that close! It was also a very nice spot with a bar/restaurant about 300 yds away and was $101 through Hotwire. It has secondary parking lots, too. just FYI.

Lol - that was the club hotel in 2012.  We actually had the fewest number of folks staying at the hotel that year if I recall.  4C was out that year, MEK's room didn't have working AC, and they had a big party at the hotel one night which was pretty noisy.  The rooms were decent if I recall, but we booked a block so of course that was more expensive (the blocks NEVER work in our favor for pricing.)
