I wish I had "extra time".... :smilielol: We leave our hotel every morning about 6:45 am and return for a clean T Shirt around 8pm, then off to dinner until 10-11pm....back to the hotel, then shower, sleep, repeat.... :drunk:

We stayed in a Comfort Inn right off the 83 in Harrisburg and the guy was trying to explain something about a cancellation policy but his Indian accent/ poor English I couldn't understand what he was saying. After his incomprehensible shpeel I had to ask "do we have 2 rooms or not" Did anyone else get a cancelation policy speech at a choice hotel location?

My only complaints about my trip this year:

1. Man the construction through PA was abysmal.
2. The weakest burn out competition I have ever seen - it's a bit hillbilly but it's good entertainment and it's not my car getting ruined
3. I never managed to get enough time to stop by the C-C tent.

Highlights:

1. Met Mr. norm and got his signature
2. Met Steve Magnante
3. Hellcat
4. So many mopars

I like the area that we are and have been staying . . . . the ride down the turnpike from the hotel is actually relaxing and it is cool to see all the car caravan to the show . . . get off the turnpike and it is a short ride into the show.  We now have 2 new hotels next to our typical one that I bet will be where we stay next year . . . . I can't complain about $79 for Thursday and $89 for Friday and Sat.  Gives me more money for food, beer and parts!  I left the hotel at 7:00 and was parks and in the show by 7:40!  Was about the first one under the tent except for the 2 chair that sat there all weekend and no one that I saw ever sat in them . . .

So my total hotel bill was about $280 with taxes and fees but I would be willing to pay up to $350 which would be about $110 per night.  I would not want to be around $500 as I just think that is too much . . . . We now have a new this year Holiday inn Express and then a Fairfield Inn that is now 2 years old I believe in the area we typically stay and one of those is where I will be next year . . .

I agree with Dave that cruise to the show and back again is fun. If you stay real close you don't get that. Staying 20-30 minutes away = less money, more fun.

Jim and I enjoyed the ride in also, cool mornings, beautiful scenery (no palm trees lol ).  We were surprised by a few things. The lack of early morning traffic, well traffic in general. Really not the bumper to bumper were used to. And the complete circles you complete to get on/off the freeways. I wanted to drift the rental Malibu  :woohoo:, but got a firm NO on that.    :smilielol:

The Park Inn is also a 25-30 minute drive. You can either take 81 or a straight shot on 11.  The food is fantastic!  :2thumbs:

:iagree:

We have stayed at a place out in Shippensburg for the past 4 years now.... 20 or so minutes away.  We get breakfast out there before heading out in the morning then enjoy a nice ride and roll in to the show. Properly warms up the car.

It is not fancy but its clean...no pool (we wouldnt have time for a pool anyways)....the A/C is COOOOOLD! And the place is quiet. Now, this year the brand new flat screenTV actually fell off the wall due to poor installation....LOL The proprietor took immediate care of it and was very apologetic.   Like I said, not fancy. But.....at like $60 a night we save money for important stuff -- as has been said, we are just sleeping there, not living there.

I do want to say that I kind of feel like I owe a bit of an apology-- I know a lot of effort goes in to the lunch and dinner and what not and we were invited but did not attend either.  I did say hi to a few members at the tent but then moved on.

Last few years the tent just seemed over-full.....this year it was PACKED.  After walking all morning etc and being hot and sweaty, I need a little room to spread out in.  And, to be honest, I have an allergy to cigarette smoke.  This year, I watched the activities at the tent from a spot just about 30 feet away and got claustrophobic just seeing how dense packed the tent was.  It was me , the boys and the Mrs this year so we were concentrating on the family thing.

The invite to lunch and Dodge City was very much appreciated. We tend to lunch light due to the heat etc....fruit, a little cheese, maybe a small sammich, snack type things and lots of water....and we only carve out maybe a half hour to do that.   Then back to activities.

This year we packed in the Dodge thrill ride and the Hotchkiss ridealong and those took a few hours to accomplish what with lines etc.  And we actually saw more cars this year as I got up there early on thursday and did a round of parts hunting before the wife and kids got there.  Even then we still did more parts hunting.  So hours of walking...LOL

And for dinners we ate as a family one evening near our hotel and the other two we met up with my cousin who we never get to see except at the event......we did do the dinner at Dodge City last year and frankly it is too long a drive at 9:30/10 at night all the way back to our hotel in a 45 year old car by ourselves.  LOL  Instead we went to a local cruise out at the Petrol place near the turnpike entrance and then ate there. My cousin gave me a ride in his 66 GTX Hemi --- oh.....my....GOOOOOOOOD.   LOL

So we meant no offense to anyone....and likely no one even noticed....LOL......we were just doing our own thing.

But glad to know all my friends here were having a good time and that everyone made it to and from the show OK!

Yep!  We're going!  lol

Actually I think we are waiting to decide what hotel to have as the home base?  Appears that we are not able to book a year in advance or gets rates for the days we are looking . . . . Have a couple new hotels in New Cumberland that we are looking at!

Hi All, just joined. had a fabulous weekend in Carlisle with my husband Andy and it was such a pleasure meeting everyone!
Thank you Ashley and Jeff for making us feel so welcome and for all you did to make it such a memorable time!
The food was fabulous and oh what can I say about the homemade beer...Amazing and can't wait till next year!
Dave, you certainly are a blast and look forward to some more laughs with you.
Neal.. A world of knowledge and thanks for showing us your photos and recommending that great camera!
Was nice hanging in the back parking lot and getting to chat and meet everyone! The group dinner was delicious and can't wait to see the group photo taken there.
Shelbydog-thanks for the use of your extra chairs! Very thoughtful and much appreciated. Will bring some for next year. Hope you didn't have to stop and sleep at too many rest stops on way home . I'm sure you had many peepers checking out your beautiful ride!
Again, Ashley and Jeff, Thanks again for all you did organizing such a good time! Anything we can help with next year just let us know.
Wishing everyone all the Best!
XO Susan

Thank You Ashley and Jeff for the awesome time my wife Susan (above) I had at Carlisle this year! The pizza party was great! Lunch was wonderful and dinner blew the roof off! Thank you so much for your work in putting this event together.  We went to Mopar Nats @ Carlisle last year and had a great time, this year was 10x better since meeting fellow CC.com members! Neil CP: it was wonderful talking with you about diesel/gas performance! Next year I hope to talk with you some more now that my wife has friends there I won't bore her to death... It was a pleasure meeting all the members at the C-C.Com Any new members should come in and introduce themselves and be with friends instantly. What more can I say? We had a wonderful time! A++ couldn't be better!

Awesome Viperpunk and Ashley put on a great show!  Looking forward to next year already!

Aww thanks 4C!!

I'm waiting for next week to plan the hotel - most online sites only go 11 months out. I'm thinking I'm going to book at the new Holiday Inn Express across from the same Quality Inn - that way people can have two price points and still hang out in our favored parking lot.

I know not everyone will join us, and some folks will stick to their routine, and that's to be expected. I can't please everyone!

Hard to believe that next year will be my 10th consecutive year at Carlisle!  I'm getting old!! :-)

Neil flew in from Panama one year, and I'm still trying to get Bart to fly in from the Netherlands. Flying from the west coast is a piece of cake
