Dynomax VT vs Magnaflow
« on: July 15, 2015 - 12:59:47 PM »

I have used almost all Flowmaster products but now I think I want to go another direction.

I really like the sound of the Dynomax VT mufflers but I don't want to roll the dice and get one that has the nasty rattle to it. Seems some of the magnaflows have the same problem. Has anyone experienced this or is this just an anomaly?

I have heard several youtube clips where on the deceleration you hear a distinct rattle to the muffler.

Hey what exact magnaflows are you running Scott?

I'm using their 18 inch polished, 3in inlet and dual 2.5 outlets, factory muffler-back pipes, resonators, and tips. I have had it on for 1500 miles so far, no rattle, nice mellow tone at idle and cruising, sounds awesome when u stab some meat in the throttle.  Factory resonators make all the difference in keeping the drone under control when the MDS kicks in and drops to 4cyl

I'm using Magnaflow and love the sound with my 440. I haven't driven it much but run it from time to time. No rattle that I know of.

I purchased a MF 2 1/2" exhasust system which had to two muflers in the kit, I also did not want the 'crackle' on decleration so I added a pair of MF 6x6 race muflers either side of the gas tank and I love it, absolutely no drone while cruising the interstate, barks when you get on the gas yet not nasty, Cops dont bother me.

I'm also using Magnaflow 3'' tube. They are awesome and aren't loud. But most important, no drone at all...

Thanks for the feedback guys, I think I will be running a 2.5" exhaust all the way back although I'm toying with the 3" idea.

I have 3" on my '71 Challenger.  I may have been overkill for the 408 stroker but I liked it.  Just be careful to make sure you get the right size tips.

I've just put on Dynomax Ultraflow and love the sound. No rattle or drone at all.  My wife has these also on her 2012 R/T.  I've attached 2 vieos of hers.  One start up one taking off.

I have dynomax mufflers with my 3" TTi exhaust.  I bought the longest mufflers I could fit hoping they will be quieter than the short magna flows that I took off.  Those sounded like race car mufflers.  Too much drone for the street, and too loud with the pedal mashed.  I love the dynomax because they seem quiet, but have a bit of bark under full throttle.  Some people think they are a little loud, but I think they are very street-able without being obnoxious.

Yep listened to all of those but once you start listening to the youtube comparisons is where you get to hear the rattle.

I do really like the sound of the VT's.

Hey Tom

Are you running those with resonators or just by themselves? Gotta pull the trigger and get the exhaust on the Cuda.

Thanks!
Bryan
