E Body Leaf Spring Replacement
« on: July 15, 2015 - 03:28:50 PM »
How big a job is it to change leaf springs on an E body without a lift? It looks like one would have pretty good access after jacking the rear and removing the rear wheels/tires and valance. None of my bolts/nuts should be frozen, so it looks like everything should come apart fairly easily. My plan is to chock the front tires and jack the rear until I can get jack stands under the frame by the forward leaf spring hanger access. Then remove the jack and use it to raise the axle assembly to unload the springs. Any tips appreciated.

I did the same last winter.  Not hard at all.  Just make sure you take of the rear valence!!

And the third jack stand goes under the pinion to prevent it form rotating forward once you loosen the leaf springs!!

I jus did one leaf at a time....no fear of rotation.

3rd jack stand under one axle tube. ....jack under other to regulate lift/drop.

Don't forget to block the wheels!
