NZ Resto Update
« on: May 22, 2005 - 11:53:17 PM »
These are the latest photos taken in the last week.

Work done:

Engine Installed, Transmission, Headers/Exhaust and X-Pipe, Fuel lines, Brakes in and bled. Underside 95% complete.
Engine work is getting there basically making sure all parts are marked, squared up etc then cleaned up again or re coated then installed. Dash is complete and waiting for some minor pieces better photos to follow one day.

As for the wheels, they look great, but! I've decided to stay true to the Chrysler Rallye wheel and get my new 15x7" Rallyes covered in BFG Goodrich T/A's  (245/60/15). They will have the Dark Argent centre caps to break that all silver wheel up.

So I'm getting there, parts are all covered, waiting on one major Yearone order to arrive and thats it.

Windows are my only concern but they are not hard to find.  :grinno:

Enjoy the photos, any questions, just ask.  ;D

Can you say....VANISHING POINT!!

WHat can I say...this is the type of resto job that if you take your time, the rewards pay well. Can't wait to see you get on the road. I'm on the other end of the sword with my Challenger, but the day will get there.

Is that a restored dash pad, or a repop? I'm looking to do the same with my dash pad, either find another one to replace, or restore.

Keep us posted when the monster awakens.....

Thanks Bondavi, very kind of you.  ;)

It is a Yearone Repo. But we were lucky enough to get a 98% good condition one. A couple of little marks that were taken care of thanks to a heat gun. If you look carefully at the Dash Pad photo you can see one of the little "dent/marks" that was in it but has since been cleared.
The mark in the photo is just below the centre speaker grille. There's still a lot of work to go but the chunky parts are nearing completion.

Engine install and getting the majority of that in is one main job, the underside is basically finished apart from the oil pan being painted HEMI orange and the Trans pan getting powder coated and then the final clean, spray and check before it hits the road etc.
Next is the dash install, glass, headliner, carpet etc etc  :ack:  ;D

I think she's looking great.

This is a DRIVER. That's why there's no show style white paint from head to toe. She's been coated in some rubber compound they use so when stones splash up etc they stick rather than banging up and denting the undercarriage.

She'll also be getting a NAVMAN GPS in-car GPS system for those backroad journeys.

 Looking good, how many years in the making has it been and when do you think you will have her finished?

Shes been coated in some rubber compound they use so when stones splash up etc they stick rather than banging up and denting the undercaridge.

I used the same undercoating and not only does it hold up against the rocks and debris, but it makes a rather good sound deadener ;D
