Sons Car pulling code B1275
« on: July 19, 2015 - 02:33:08 PM »
Hi guys,

My sons 2002 Pontiac Sunfire is pulling code B1275 and I can't seem to locate much information on it.  Does anyone have any suggestions? Its an abs code according to my scanner and it says powertrain control module request ets to be disabled the problem I'm having is ill be driving down the road and my trac off light comes on I loose all throttle response.  I was able to sputter home but that's about it. Also after I drove it home It smelled like something was burning. Maybe a caliper froze up???  I did recently replace the fuel pump but have had no issues and that's functioning fine.  Any thoughts.

Thanks

Dave

O.K. found some more info;
flashing engine light
car starts and idles rough.transmission shift points affected and no power
c1275: EBCM is disable until dtc is in history.
this is a random nisfire,especially when the ck eng lt flashes,what can cause this are low fuel pressure,or vacuum leaks creating false air,the fuel pressure specs are 50-60 psi WITH KEY ON AND ENGINE OFF.

hope this helps.  :thumbsup:

 :grinyes: Dave,i hate to say it but if you put in an aftermarket pump [NON O.E.M} MORE THAN LIKELY GONNA HAVE TO DROP THE TANK AND INSTALL AN O.E.M ONE.I've seen so many non o.e.m pumps for gm cars fail in all the years i've been selling parts it's not even funny.i'd start there and if you weren't having this problem before installing that pump it's more than likely your problem.if you did install an o.e.m pump,then were back to square one.

the part no.you should have installed is;

pt#88967294 fuel pump module,includes level sensor.list price is $393.60 ya i know ouch,but you get what you pay for right,anyway if you need one which i have one in stock i would sell to member at $202.50. plus shipping propbably 14-15 bucks
delco part no. is MU1374 SAME PUMP BUT DELCO #

let me know if i can help you any further.  :thumbsup:

Thanks Dave I'll get the OE pump locally and see what happens.  Why the difference in pumps?

aftermarket ones are JUNK,PERIOD....... A couple of years back a buddy installed one in his bro's silverado,gives me a call and says still having the same problem,thinking he install a o.e.m pump.i said well lets through a fuel pressure regulator in it,also common problem on silverado's,gotta be one of the two.so we pulled the intake [WAS A CFI} injected truck and installed the reg,all back toghether and i take it for a spin,SAME problem again.  :pullinghair: i go don't tell me you put a aftermarket pump in this thing.YUP,sure enough.got him an o.e. pump.he installed it the next day and i get a call problem solved.all that extra work dropping that tank for a second time plus putting in that reg,all for not-a.  :pullinghair:
seen it time and time again,not saying it's a sure thing but i would start there.  :thumbsup: GOOD LUCK WITH IT,HOPE IT WORKS OUT.

 :thumbsup: Dave..............

 :nono: ONE MORE THING DAVE,don't fall for putting up that part no.on the net.the fly by night sights out there will tell you it's a genuine o.e.m pump and is a direct replacement for the GM Part no. DO NOT FALL FOR IT.you'll be doing it all over again.what ever you do is get that part no.that i'm giving you.that is the latest and the very current part no. for your 2002 sunfie.go to your local dealer and get the gm no. i gave you.  :thumbsup:

P/S,print this up with the price i quoted you and they should price match it.

The only reason I'm going back to the fuel pump is because I installed it last Thursday and the issue began on Sunday.  I think it's just too much of a coincidence.
