I changed out my orange box yesterday. Quit sparking during startup.

The orange boxes are bad.  Get rid of it.  I had an orange ECU in my tool box just to use if I ever had a problem with my stock ECU.  My car was running bad earlier this year so I put the orange box on the car as a test.  The car wouldn't start and flooded itself out with the orange box in place.  It went in the trash.  Ever since MP changed venders, the orange box has been junk.  Don't waste your time with it. :2cents:

That was just a joke since he assumed "7018" was a typo...

My apology's, just my sense of humor kicked in.  All in fun.    :2thumbs:  One of these knucleheads will have the info you need on the box, I don't.

My original orange box that came with the conversion kit lasted only a couple weeks. Local dealership troubleshot the problem down to the bad ECU. They replaced it and its been running fine since 1988. Maybe back then the quality was different. Hope I didn't just jinx myself.

So what do you replace it with??

Are they any date codes on the older orange boxes if you happen to be looking at a swap meet.

just a note on differences
orange box  6,000 rpm
chrome box 8,000 rpm
gold  box  12,000 rpm

like the voltage regulators, the QC issues are hit and miss.

I agree. I just replaced my orange box and coil with the FBO system. World of difference. Idles better, starts quicker and the plugs are burning beautiful when they were rich before. No more 70's technology with a ballast resister.

That FBO kit looks nice, but pricey comparing to the MP system i have now, but if the Orange box, goes every 3 months, is worth it
They have a dealer in Sweden, i have contacted him for the stock holding-

Thanks guys

I also installed the FBO kit. Best money spent.
Like was said, burns better, cleaner and better throttle response. And the ballast resister is gone

Rev-N-Nator  :2thumbs: :clapping:
Ran the same Chrysler Chrome box for 28 years straight with no problems but it is now the spare back up to my Rev-N-Nator.
Starts quicker, idles smoother while burning leaner. Very happy with it so far. Even wifey noticed the exhaust is less "stinky"...
