code "A63" Challenger Moulding Group (1970 only)?
« on: July 22, 2015 - 08:46:02 PM »
Posted this link http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=107416.0 for a '70 Challenger RT with the "A63" Challenger Moulding Group (1970 only) option in the "ebay/craigslist deals" section. I really posted the ad to find out what exactly the "A63" option was but nobody bit off on it. So I thought I throw it up here to see if I could find out just what you got with the "A63" Challenger Moulding Group (1970 only)?

I'm thinking that maybe it is like the SE mouldings on the back edge of the fenders and hood and around the front lower valance but without getting the SE package?

Curious and just want to expand my option code knowledge - so can anyone define what exactly the "A63" Challenger Moulding Group (1970 only) was?
Cheers!

My book says this.

Body belt moldings
Front Stone shield mouldings
hood rear and fender mouldings
rear astrotone painted applique   standard on SE

But you probably have the same book. 6th edition

I strongly suggest that you purchase one of these books.  This is the 7th edition.

Another book that deals with the codes as well is the Dodge & Plymouth Muscle Car RED BOOK, author, Peter Sessler.  It may be out of print, but is another source of the codes. I see them every once in awhile at swap meets. It is larger than the GG books. I like the GG for ease of fitting in a pocket.

I have yet to see the "Red Book".

Wish I was closer to more swap meets.  Anybody got one for sale out there?

Not sure when or where I got it, basically the same info as GG books, always like having more than one source for comparison.

Just checked Amazon, book is like $1.99 and shipping is around $4

I agree.   A63 gave you the same mouldings that an SE would have standard, save for the vinyl roof.

So to translate:  7 piece stainless belt moulding set (top of doors, quarters, back of fenders and back of hood)

2-piece anodized aluminum trim in the front valance opening

SE tailpanel

Rocker mouldings were a separate option.

And A63 cars in '71 would not have a special tailpanel treatment.
