I watched a show the other day that said the first gen Barracuda actually debuted a couple of weeks before the first Mustang.  The probably was there was so much hype around the Mustang that no one noticed the Barracuda.

The Mustang, while based on the Falcon architecture, was entirely fresh sheet metal and looked new. The Barracuda simply added a fastback to the Valiant, resulting in a dated look with a big backside.

yeah, unfortunately when I see bad info like this I won't bother to read the rest because there are probably more mistakes or false info

Horribly written article by a non-car enthusiast. Nonexistent engines and other grammar and spelling mistakes that goes to show that this guy wrote the article to meet a deadline and really could care less. That aside this did strike a big debate between me and another reader as it relates to when the 360 replaced the 340. I stated that 360s where introduced to the Cuda in mid/late 1973 and 1974 models. He swears up and down that 360s were in 1974 cars only. This is not the way I understand it. I almost bought a late year model 73 car that had a factory 360 in it and have seen several other 1973 Cudas that are 360 cars. He says that he has researched the Hamtrack registry and other sources and that no matter what I'm wrong... :clueless:

I've found 360s in '72 trucks, so it was out way before '74. Not being real well versed in E body history, I can't say for certain the 340 was dead for '73, nor that  the 360 was the exclusive HP offering in the same year. By '74 it was, but '73 is a bit fuzzy on info. Mid year change perhaps or 340s could be ordered but all sales bank cars were 360?
