Locating my dad's old T/A
« on: July 25, 2015 - 11:05:34 AM »
I have paperwork (build sheet, original window sticker, personal letter from Chrysler, VIN specific braking distance card)  from my dad's old T/A (pictured on my avatar) and would love to find the car. That was the car my brother came home from the hospital in. My dad sold it to some guy in Washington state in 1973 and the car ended up in the LA area as of 1986 according to a search done by a friend. Nowadays, its harder to locate owners but I suppose it could be done if you know the right people  :nono:. Anyhow, I contacted Barry Washington about 10 years ago and he was very informative and took down the VIN for the registry. I also listed the VIN on the website VINfind.com, but have not heard anything. No idea where the car is but would love to reunite with it. However, given the value of those cars today, it will probably never happen. :( Just in case, VIN I'm looking for is JH23J0B305531. Photos are from around 1971-73.

On a more positive note, I had listed my current challenger on some site and the owner from the early 70's contacted me wondering about the status of the car. We traded information and he shared a few stories about its history.

Thanks. Yeah, I believe my dad ordered the rack from the dealer and installed it after. Also wondering about the antenna location. Those mudflaps are a bit destracting as well.

Absolutely, Fiberglass hood wouldn't dampen electrical interference from the ignition so the antenna was moved to the rear quarter...

Interesting.

The broadcast sheet is in near pristine condition, just wish I had the car to go with it.  :working:

Dad told me he wanted the triple black T/A but apparently it got sold.

Thanks. I don't expect to ever see it again but fun to think about it.

There are several posts on this site from a few folks who found their fathers cars.

I'm dying to know what the personal letter from chrysler says.

Do you have a picture of the build sheet on a thread somewhere?

I live in WA and bought a yellow T/A out of LA about 3 years ago.  Just checked the VIN and it's not your old T/A.  Good luck and don't give up.  It's out there somewhere.  You'll find it.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

I'll see if I can find the letter and post it. I don't have the build sheet posted but the VIN is listed in the T/A registry.
