Outer Steering Tie Rod
« on: July 26, 2015 - 02:55:44 AM »
can the outer steering tie rod be attached above or below the steering knuckle?
On my car, the driver side has the castle nut below the steering knuckle, and its
above the steering knuckle on the passenger side, so linkage can clear headers.

Yes, so the tie rod ends closest to the wheels need to be nuts up, if one of yours is nut down then when you undo the nut that tie rod end should just lift out pretty easy as the taper will be not holding it in its probably also stuffed that tie rod end and the lower ball joint steering arm

A grease nipple is gonna be hard to reach, so can I grease the tie rod before installation. It does
no look like the post, on which you place the castle nut, moves within the steering arm components.
The tie rod just rotates upon itself?

Yeah, you can pre grease it or put in a 90deg grease nipple. If the tie rod end is near new it may not rotate, but it will when in the car
