    Spell Check Love? Hate?

    When I type out a post often I don't bother to proof read because I've always been a decent speller & if it's grammatically incorrect I'll get it wrong the second time too....

    But I've noticed a growing trend with posts, Mine & Others.... When it first was happening I'd catch it after the fact when looking at a thread I'd read what I'd posted & some of the words weren't at all what I knew I'd typed....  More recently I started proof reading & then actually watching the letters appear as I type.... There are times when Spell Check doesn't recognize words, possibly something technical, or car related.... And substitutes what it believes is the correct term....

    There are/have been posts I'd read & swear the poster flunked english & really needs spell check..... But there are also posts where you see a word thats spelled right but totally out of context in the post that you know spell check was trying to help but got it wrong......

    Am I the only one seeing this?

    I'm indifferent to spell check. I write for a living, and I've rarely needed it.

    But then there's AutoCorrect, a feature on cell phones and tablets. AutoCorrect takes what you typed, ad tries to figure out what you meant. Sometimes this works for the best, and other times it creates a giant cluster. The latter usually happens when you're trying to input a word that's not in the machine's database. AutoCorrect has caused me more than a bit of embarrassment.

    Exactly!!! Guess I'm not going crazy.... :roflsmiley: :cheers:  Thing is Apple has now put Auto Correct on my Mac Book too...
