I'm just the opposite, I owned 3 fastbacks for my first 3 cars and always thought the coupes looked funky.
Now they have grown on me but the 69 340 Formula S Fastback Barracuda is still my favorite A body.
Always keeping an eye out for a good project fastback. My son wants that to be his first car.

You son has good taste in cars!

I'm leaving the bottom end alone. ...
New carb and intake
Doug's D453 headers w/new full exhaust all the way back
Whiplash cam
Hughes converter
Obviously a good cleaning and painting
New wiring harness

This will hold me over for a year or two while I locate a roller 318 for a stroker build!

Update on the Barracuda. ...
It's been going a little slow because of money. .....but

I decided to replace the wiring harness under the hood and forward light harness. .....purchased...on the bench.

Then realized how bad my dash harness was so i ordered that.... $520!!!
It's on its way.

Other parts out for delivery include:
Edelbrock carb
Edelbrock manifold
Hughes whiplash cam,  lifters and springs
2400 RPM stall converter
Gasket ans seal kit
True roller timing set
Other Misc stuff.....

Also on my bench are Doug's D453 headers.....

I have the dash out, both wiring harnesses are out.  I'm still detailing the engine bay.....coming out real nice!

I'm be rumbling down the road by Spring!!!
Jeff

Old harness......what a butchered mess...

Dash out

Cleaning up some parts...

Good progress. Keep the pics coming. I would suggest cutting all the pigtails/connectors off the old harnesses before you trash them. They can come in handy.   :2thumbs:

He is in Chino CA (previous post)

One of the first models I ever built was a 68 fast back, I put a top fuel blown Hemi in it, straight axle in the front and painted it black; I still have that model to this day (40+ years). I always wanted a fast back with a big block but just never got to it. If I fell into a deal, I would have a very hard time walking away from it.

Keep us updated.  It took me over 15 months just to get the engine out - freshened and put back in....  I feel your pain....

I sure will.
Talk about "while I'm at it".....!
I was just going to "freshen up the engine" too.....it's turned into a complete rewire, front suspension rebuild,  and oh ya - freshen up the engine!

Can't wait to drive her again!

I feel you on that one; have started many "freshen ups" that turned into long term projects.
