Newb - 70 Challenger convertible R/T clone
« on: July 31, 2015 - 10:28:10 AM »
Hello from Atlanta. My car is an original 318 convertible that was cloned to R/T by previous owner. However, the cloning was only done on the exterior and no enhancements were made to the original 318. The fender tag indicates that it rolled off the showroom floor as Hemi Orange / White top combo with white interior and has been restored as such.

I got the car from my uncle about a year ago and have just started working on it. I'd really like to trace the history back but have run into a dead end. My uncle bought the car in 2002 from Pete Lima, a broker in Miami. Uncle said that the car had TX tags on it when it was delivered to his home in NC. I've contacted Pete and he has no records of the car or even memory of it. I have also been told by someone who knows Pete that he's not the type to keep records. I have also called the TX DMV to see if they could provide any registration history but a helpful person indicated that records are deleted every 10 years. No luck there. I know its a long shot but was wondering if any members have seen, recognize, or have memory of this car. Also, let me know if there is a better section of this forum for this portion of my post!

Looking forward to the time ahead on here and with this car.

Nathan

Nice ride... But you might wanna put the top up... :roflsmiley:
Nothing wrong with a clone, in the past twenty years I've had more re fun with clones than numbers cars... Before that numbers didn't matter but real R/Ts were cheap enough you couldbeat them & not feel bad about it...
