Started my engine for the first time, Megasquirted stroker
« on: August 02, 2015 - 11:20:06 AM »
Yahooo!    :jumping: :jumping:

Yesterday I started the engine for the first time.  Built it back in December, and took awhile to get all the accessories and stuff done.   It started in 2 revolutions.   It is only hot wired, now I need to hook the wiring to the car harness.  I still need the interior installed,  drive shaft made, and wheels and tires, so I won't be driving soon.

Thanks for all the advice I got on the forum.  I'm so happy.  My wife videoed it and my youngest son helped me with the throttle to keep it running.

It didn't run bad for zero tuning, now I need to learn to do some of that.   Ran better as it warmed up,  got it to 178 degrees with a 180 thermostat.  I can see all engine parameters on the laptop that is on the fender of the car.

It's a 505 stroker with Edelbrock ProFlo intake running Megasquirt 3  , full sequential and coil near plug, open headers.
I can't believe it started so easy.  :cooldancing:  By time time I got to the other side of the car it had oil pressure.  Two Video's  below.

Did I already say YAHOOOOO!

Thanks, the cam is a Lunati  Hyd roller.

Lunati’s Voodoo series of camshafts deliver more area under the curve than any other series of camshafts. This means more throttle response, quicker acceleration, more vacuum and better efficiency. These factors, combined with maximum horsepower and torque, make Voodoo camshafts the perfect choice for a wide range of high performance applications.Retro-Fit Hydraulic Roller. High performance street cam. Likes upgraded intake, carb and exhaust. Needs 2800 RPM stall converter in most cases. Requires 9.5:1 compression for maximum performance.

Excellent choice, with a stroker it might even be a bit to mild which I honestly prefer, sounds tame but runs strong...

Thanks Chryco,         I read a lot of your engine building posts.   I have to admit, I was a little nervous.

Dammnn, sounds very nice. I may just have to get one of those for myself for the 440/512 I'm planning out, would this be a good cam for my purposes Chryco? Could it be custom ground to where I need it for the fuel efficiency I want to get?

I have the same cam in my combo and am really happy with it. Just be sure to gear the car so it's spinning 2300-2500 RPM's at 65 MPH . I went with a 3:55 Dana and wished I had gotten a 3:73 instead ( OD auto 4 speed) Mine is only turning 2000 @ 65 MPH . In optimum conditions I get 17 MPG's also.

Awesome, maybe I'll have even more MPG with the lightened EFI engine I'm planning.
