70 B5 383 cuda.....WIW
« on: August 05, 2015 - 09:18:52 PM »
hey guys, we went over this breifly a few months ago, but i just got back from seeing the car, and I have a lot more info now, so Id like the get a revised WIW from you guys.  thanks in advance.  I'll include pics, including the fender tag, build sheet, and fender tag decoding.

Heres the info:
1970 'Cuda (BS23)
383 super commando  #s block included, but will need sleeved
727 trans, #s matching still working when parked
B5 blue, with B5 interior
Split bench with console shift origianally, now sporting buckets and a console
Needs entire interior redone
Still wearing all original paint and sheet metal
car also includes a complete, running, built 440
car was a standard dash, now has a rallye dash, includes original dash
has a wing added
the car will need lower quarters on both sides, as well as driver front fender replaced, also needs trunk extensions
Floors and frame are solid.

Obviously this car needs a full resto, but its in pretty good shape.  He has every original part that came off the car includig the original 22" radiator, original intake/carb, etc.  He kept it ALL
The roll bar is just sitting in there, not welded.  Car is NOT mini-tubbed like initially thought.  Also there is no wiring issue like originally thought.  Shoot me any questions you have that will help me lock down a value.  I have the cash now, and I'm ready to roll!

You will want to pay around $10k but he will probably want like 20k.

Therein lies the rub with a lot of cars out there just sitting.......

Not to be a d*ck, but your always better off buying the most complete car you can afford.

Buy this car for $15k, put another $35k into it and now you have a car worth $30k that you worked on for 5yrs.

I'm speaking from experience, paid $5k for my car in front the 90s, have about $30k into it.
I'd be lucky to get $15-$20k for it.

And it's way ahead of this project as far as starting point.

Yeah , you never get back what you put into them ....but the reward of driving them after so much time, money, hard work is priceless. I have put probably 30 grand into mine and she would need probably another10,000 to finish into a eye grabber for car shows, if I ever sell her even if I through in the spare 70 engine ' parts ,and Mopar steel wheels doubt I could get 25 grand for a non numbers matching car given if it runs hard and strong. It is all in the memory and knowledge learned that is the true reward.

Just to clarify, I'm not too concerned with getting my money out of it when it's done.  I just want a fair market price for the condition.  And Katfish, if I can get well over 10k for my 73 with its laundry list of issues, I think u could do better than 15-20 for your car, trust me when I tell u it's 10x nicer than the one I just sold  :roflsmiley:

You will want to pay around $10k

I agree if you can keep it close to 10k it would be a steal. The good part is it comes with buckets and rally cluster also which are hard to find.   Really comes down to if the guy is realistic seller and not asking something crazy. 10k would be ideal but I think car will go for around 15k as it sits.

Good luck man but sure looks likes nice car to start with and comes with a lot of original parts. Good thing is roll bar is not welded/tubed at all  :2thumbs:

just my own opinion. $10k is too low, see how many junk projects sell for $5k-$10K that are missing 1/2 the parts this one has. yes it needs a lot of love, but I think $12k-$15k is about ideal. it's a '70, good options list, good color combo, 1 rebuilt 440 ($3-5K by itself) + OG block and parts. my 2 coppers

I think it's worth $.02.... :smilielol: You asked !

I'm in agreement with the $12K-$15K being a fair deal for both parties, I could see someone wanting closer to $20K, but that aint gonna happen :2cents:

$10K or less...you're stealing it, you should be ashamed  :nono:

I don't think that anybody in their right mind would let this go for 10k. 15k is probably a fair price. Did you guys see the rotten '70 Cuda that just sold for $16500? This car has got to be better than that by far. Just my  :2cents:

I did just see the black ( soon to be a convertible ) sold. if that was worth $16,500  :screwy:than i will stop beating my self up for paying 30,000 for mine. I completely agree the blue cuda mentioned above is a much better investment!
