The door appears to be a replacement.  It's from a 1970 LA built car.  However, the Cowl VIN is for a 73 and it might just be a factory stamping error.  It happened.... more then you would think.  I've seen lots of cowls and radiator VINs mis-stamped from the factory.   But when they are mis-stamped, it's usually the same mis-stamp on each.

What VIN number is stamped on the radiator support?



Dash, BS23H3B225081

Door, BH23C0E100989

Cowl, B3 250063

Nothing matches nothing..........man, I've had this car for about 17 years

At this point I wouldn't be in a hurry to get the cops involved, as others have asked check the top cross bar on the radiator support... Any chance the cowl number wasn't read correctly due to the poor access or heavy paint deposits?

The door was swapped, And it sounds like the dash & Fender tag may have also... Bad deal...

FWIW the door came off a VERY early (one of the first 1000 cars) Los Angles  built /6 Barracuda....

I would get a new door VIN decal and not worry about the rest of it... :2cents:

Unless it is a criminal investigation, most dmv's and pd's don't go passed the VIN on the dash...if you are keeping the car, don't worry about it.

I don't have a build sheet. The stamp on the radiator support looks to be the same as on the cowl but their is a hole drilled through the B3 so I can't be positive. I will try to add pics with this post. Their is no problem accessing or reading the rest of the numbers. I am keeping the car and passing it down through the family, so selling it won't be a problem for a long time. I just hate that I can't rely on the numbers for the history of the car........takes away from the story if you don't know what the story is. :useless

You sound like an honest guy but I wouldn't be posting this on the net for the world to see.  :2cents:
Worst case scenario ..... car was stolen before you got it and someone installed a used door off a /6 donor then installed a legit dash pad and fender tag.
