1970 Challenger

Hello Guys,

My name is Alex, I`m from Cyprus (small European island) and I have a '70 Challenger that needs massive restoration. As being the only one on the island, i decided to go through with it although is a big pain as the car is in really bad condition.

Hoping to get some help from you guys in regards to locating some parts and stuff.

Here we go!

first 2 pics are from the guy that sol me the car. He had it sitting in that place for the past 15 years.

last 2 pictures are from the garage where I dissembled the car.

Yes, the roof was cut at one point but luckily they welded some very strong pieces of metal along the car so it wont twist.

The car was originally a 318 V8 but the engine transmission were removed and lost at one point. Because here in the banana island  we drive on the wrong side, the steering was moved on the right and the dash modified.

Well...all this will be fixed by me in time and i really wish to bring the car back to original.

The best part about it is that it might be one lost swiss spec!!!

No...i really want to restore it to original. I`m originally from Romania where we drive on the correct side so i don`t have a problem with that. Also, i don`t want to destroy the value of the car with this change. I will open a new topic in Restoration projects where i will upload more pictures

  right hand drive sort of makes it stand out from all the others! Can you post more pictures of the dash I'm curious. I'd imagine getting a new dash pad for a right hand drive would be a feat!

this is the only one i have for the moment. anyway...they cut the dash into pieces and welded it back somehow

WOW this is really a trip! I'm talking with a guy at the show car today who is telling me about this rare RH drive Chally.... and now there's a thread with pics?? Whoda thunk it. Very cool!

Hey mark, i just read all the 20 pages of the orange Challenger that you rebuilt and i can only say one word... AMAZING!!!

back to my RHD. Well the person that did all this was just an ordinary mechanic with a welding machine and a grind cutter. there is a total mess and the dash does not fit correctly leaving a gap of 3-4cm on the left.

The firewall was also cut in a weird way leaving the original holes as they are. under the hood, there is nothing original. The engine was replaced with a strait 6 which is incomplete anyway, the steering box was replaced also. I will try to get to the garage tomorrow and get some more detailed pictures.

Also, is there anyone that can decode the fender plate codes in order for me to get as much info about the original specs?

Post a picture or list the codes and someone will fill in the info, probably within minutes of posting..lol
