Best exhaust pipe wrap ?

What is the best quality including ability to work with exhaust pipe wrap ? There's lots of different types and brands. The more I read about them the less I know.

I want to wrap my pipes from the exhaust manifold to at least the back of seats to help cool down the interior.

I wonder if you could install some type of heat shield instead of the wrap. The wrap significantly decreases the life of the pipes.

What a great idea! 

No one offers anything aftermarket for Mopar exhaust systems to help deflect heat. Headers are the one's that need it most. The floor areas near the pedals tend to be a vunerable area on hot days.

I didn't think there would be any direct fitment aftermarket items. Since when has that stopped anyone? New cars/trucks have all kinds of heat shielding. I'm sure something could be modified to fit an E-body floor pan. My point was that header wrap damages the pipes. There has to be a better way.

  I made the mistake of wrapping pipes once a very long time ago. Never did it again.  Was great until the pipes corroded through under the wrap.

The only issues with pipe wrap that I've ever heard about was because it got wet from driving in the rain and caused rust problems. I will not be driving in the rain. Is there other problems also ?

I've thought about different types of floorboard covering between the pipes and floorboard, but I wasn't sure the adhesive would hold up or abuse from road debris.

I've also considered taking some tin plates and fastening muffler clamps to them with spacers and insulation. They would bolt onto the pipes and look kind of like a tent with about 1/2" or more of spacing between the pipe and the "tent".

Back to my original question though......  whats a good brand of wrap ?

Pipe wrap I would think would cetainly be a magnet for any type of humidity raining or wet climate areas for example.

Those were the only issues I've ever heard about. But don't apply to me.

I drove My Challenger with painted headers and just the carpet on the floor. That was hot....
Now I have ceramic coated headers and have also insulated the firewall and floor all the way to the back seat. Night and day difference.

So, maybe try the insulation?

Last winter I covered everything with Dynamat and Reflectix.

Hadn't heard about that issue, but it makes sense.  Damn it !!

x2. Headers are an replaceable commodity in the racing world so they don't care if they need replaced annually.

Best approach would be thermal barrier coatings on the headers. most of these companies can also do this application on exhaust pipes. Combine with a couple of heat shields and/or interior insulation, like Thermo-tec or Dynamat, and you should be able to feel a heat reduction.

if you`re just a bit of handyman, you surely could fab some 19-20 gauge sheetmetal / stainless / alu  shields...?   I`d use a few silent blocks to mount them to the floorboards
