cuda eyebrow spoilers
« on: August 09, 2015 - 02:08:09 PM »
Do they work or are they just a interesting looking accessory?  Have any of you guys had front end lift at high speeds, and then added the spoilers and can now feel the difference?  It doesn't look like much surface area to actually do anything.  I enjoy doing the occasional (weekly) high speed blast over triple digits. Ive been up to 125-130 mph range more than a handful of times.  Do these spoilers add stability (not that Im feeling any instability), or increase or decrease top end speed?  I am more concerned with function over form.

I'd say they do help , just how much though?  :dunno: Stick your hand out flat at 65MPH+    I do notice mine at hwy speeds front ends on our cars are notorious  for lifting at 100MPH+

Seems like hood lovers would help the issue?

Hood louvres would probably help some, but the gist of the problem lies in the shape of the body itself. The AAR front eyebrows probably add a bit of downforce, but for any real results you'll need something like what Brad has.

I did some looking at google images last night looking for 71 cudas with the front eyebrow spoiler.  Not many are shown.  The ones I did see show them installed almost horizontal.  They only  stick out a couple of inches, meaning only a little of the surface actually touches the air.  I get the reference of "stick your hand out the window at 65+", but maybe it should be "stick two fingers out the window at 65+".  I may be better off building a custom splitter and smoothing the air under the car.  I haven't seen a 71 cuda with a splitter/ front spoiler like a challenger.

I see a lot of modern cars with front fender vents behind the wheel that are functional.  Has anyone actually opened up the gills of a 71 cuda fender for venting?  Do you think it will matter?

Hey Brad, thanks for the link.  I see those spoilers only on 70 cudas.  Do you think it would fit on my 71 with my blinkers in the valence?  Its hard to tell from just a picture.  I may have to join Moparts just to ask that question.  $250+ isn't a bad deal.  That is probably more of what Im looking for than the stock spoilers.

I'm not sure I guess 71 with the turn signals are unique in that respect?
There is also this... http://www.spoilersbyrandy.com/Pages/707274Baracudaspoiler.aspx  but again not for a 71. You might end up having to make one. Here is what I did. I didn't spend a lot on money either. Tools cost more than the spoiler...

I for one think they look awesome regardless of the effectiveness of them. I have them on my Cuda and plan to put them back on after I finish the restoration.
