turn signal not working
« on: August 09, 2015 - 06:48:09 PM »
Hi, I Have been a while since I have done any work to the Challenger, today I had some time so I got back to it. Last time check the turn signal where working fine, but had trouble the the headlights. I order a new harness last year, thats what I started with this morning. I install the new harness and check if everything was working. Well everything worked, except the turn signals. Even the hazzar are working. So could it be the new harness or something else when bad. If so what it could be? When I push the lever up or down, the signals in the dash dont work either.

What flasher are you using? The electronic flashers work really nice. The stock style flashers suck.

The flasher for the turn signals is behind the ash tray. The flasher for the hazards is on the steering column. You can get a fully electronic flasher at your local parts store. If it's the old style mechanical flasher, I'd replace it.

have you traced the power coming from the TS switch at the base of the column , it could be a problem with the switch or further forward from there or it could even be bad ground but not likely if the hazzard lights work .

I forgot to say that I'm almost zero in car electrical.  Well by reading posts last night I found out that there was 2 flashers, so that's something I have to check. Tracing the power coming of the switch a the bottom of the column, I need to find witch cable  the power come off and use a test light to check is that correct? Can I just unplug the plug at the bottom of the column and put the test light in the right socket?

Sorry for any dumb questions
