An unusual (and possibly crazy?) idea

This morning I had a little thought about the 1970 Challenger build I'm planning out. I definitely want to use the 440/512 EFI stroker motor, however, I'm still undecided about the transmission. The A518 or a 727 w/ GV are both good options, however, I wondered if it was remotely possible to use a built 545RFE transmission, provided someone made or could make a BB adapter for it, and I could find an aftermarket transmission control module? Or, possibly even crazier, I wonder if it'd be possible to use the brand new Torqueflite 8HP90, again with an adapter and control module? Does anyone know of any companies who do, or could do, what it would take to make this work? Or would I absolutely have to use a Gen 3 Hemi to make it work?

The back of the Gen 3 HEMI is a small block (LA series) bolt pattern.  You just don't use the very top hole.  Things you would have to check is the torque converter depth to ensure it aligns in the crank, ring gear for the starter.  It doesn't sound that difficult.  The obvious is what are you going to cut to install it.  I would assume it's a very long transmission with 8 gears.  For me, the issue will be the computer to control the transmission.  You are venturing into new territory here!

Yeah, I figured I was going to be doing some tunnel surgery to get either of these to work. The good news on the 545 idea is that PCS makes both an aftermarket controller and a harness for that transmission. And yes I am, hopefully I can make it work

Well, it looks like using either a 545 or a NAG1 tranny would be way too much work, so I think I'm back to my idea of either the 727+GV or an A518 (possibly with GV)
