Xvmotorsports...more bs
« on: August 11, 2015 - 06:19:19 PM »
I have a post on here from a while back complaining about Xvmotorsports and having parts fitment problems and also their poor customer service.

Well from what I understand they went out of business or something like that and another guy took it over.

Anyways ordered about $700 worth of stuff from him. Finalized it all and paid via the website. Next thing I know I'm getting an email from him telling me that the website doesn't work properly (problem number 1) and that the shipping is going to cost me 6X more than the website had charged me.

I wasn't ok with that so I cancelled the order. Guess the guy is ok with losing $700 worth of business because he sure didn't seem to care. Honestly I would've expected better customer service. Maybe an apology for the website being inaccurate, and waiving the extra shipping fees.

So basically I will just have to make all the parts myself. It will take me quite a bit longer as I don't have tons of spare time to invest in it right now. But I would rather wait, then reward incompetence/dishonesty/poor customer service.

I have noticed whomever is posting as XV on Moparts seems to be an interesting person.

He made some claims that the XV chassis kit was far better than the US car tool in so many different ways and in a roundabout way I told him to "prove it". Well he got annoyed at me wanting some sort of data, testing procedure, something other than his gut-feeling to back his claim. He decided that he didn't want to deal with me anymore and pushed off subject. Lost my business.

The sporatic emails and facebook posts just read as a last-minute idea and are cobbled together. For instance, the last email from XV i got in July was the following

Quote
Back in Stock:

XV Sub Frame Connectors: 1966-1970 B Body, 1971-1974 B Body, 1970-1974 Cuda'/Baracuda, and 1970-1974 Challenger

XV Lower Radiator Supports: 1966-1974 B Body, 1970-1974 E Body

Check out the rest of the Chassis Stiffening Products: Inner Fender Braces, B Body and E Body Engine Bay Braces.

XV Seat Belts in stock

Look for XV Challenger Trunk Kits coming soon.....

Really? That's the big sales pitch to the people that sign up for emails and newsletters? No links, no pictures...nothing. Seems like a pathetic effort in many ways to keep the company "alive". But that's just my  :2cents:

I have XV level 1 system in my cuda.  I bought the parts in the bad ol days of poor customer service and long wait times.  I didn't have many choices as hotchkis didn't have any parts.  But now that I have my car running, and driving, that system just plain works.  I love it.  It drives like a BMW.  I did put in the US Cartool fender braces, and hotchkis control arms and steering links when parts became available.  But I have to admit, that their springs, and torsion bars, and shocks really work well together.  My current shock setup even has the setting set in the middle of the range, with plenty of room for more adjustment when needed.  Im sure you can piece it all together or build your own, but skipping out because of shipping cost seems pretty drastic, unless it was highway robbery.  If he is a one man show, Im sure he doesn't have time and budget to have a perfect website.  At least he answered the phone.  You can't get that from most places anymore.  I am not condoning poor customer service.  It sucks.  Im just saying that their parts work very well on my car.  Do what you want.

I have completely rebuilt every part of my suspension that can be rebuilt/replaced. So I have no plans in buying a suspension kit. My plan was just the body stiffening components, and those I can make.

Also it is the principle of it. I wouldn't pay him $700 for a complete resto the way he was behaving. If I can't trust someone because of dishonesty and later because he was a dink, then I don't want any part of what he does on or in my car. A-holes are the sort of folks that would sell you a bad part and not even feel bad about it (just like the xv of old).

I'm glad you're kit worked for you, but I'm not willing to put up with b.s.
