The rad looks to be pressed right up against the area where you would usually find it. Going to be rad with the rad in place :2cents:

The number should be right there in front of the radiator. Thats a ton of paint! May be the radiator support was replaced? Nothing at then driver's side wiper area? I'll take a pic of the areas where my #s are stamped if it helps.

Sorry..didn't post photos of it, but I had already found the drivers side wiper area.  Just trying to hunt down a few more to make the verification a little easier.

Are you sure there is nothing is this area?

I'm not seeing anything, but I'll triple check today.  I have every other Friday off and this is about the only day I can fool around in the car.  Sorry for the slow responses!

If the VIN is there it will be it the top crossbar not the side panel...  Usually on the drivers side between the latch & the battery area... Either on the top or the vertical face the the radiator hides.... Usually it can be spotted for the front or back because it distorts the sheetmetal...

Here's a pic of the radiator support and cowl. There is blue masking tape directly over the numbers for highlight. Hope this helps!

Thats where they are on your car, and I'm sure many others... But there was no official spot, it could be anywhere on the upper radiator support... So if he focuses on where your's is he may miss the stamping...

This is true. He may miss it or he may just find it. No official spot.

As always, thanks for the help guys.  I've looked all around and gotten nowhere.  Ive found and matched the cowl to the door.  I have an appointment with CHP (California Highway Patrol) Wednesday to see if they will sign off on the title, door and cowl being enough documentation to trump the dash.  Hopefully I can get a new dash tag created once CHP signs off on it.  I'll post here again later this week and let yall know which way it goes :).

Thanks again,
Darren

UPDATE: Everything worked out at CHP, they gave me a "blue tag" and had me strip off the old VIN tag on the dash, but everything is good with the DMV.  Gotta head back over there tomorrow.

I appreciate all the help,
Darren

What did they use, A state issued number or the real VIN number from the body? :clueless:

  This is important, not to mess with the car's VIN, as a matter of originality

Thanks!  On to the next hurdle..the CA DMV.  That shouldnt be too bad, other than them taking money I could be putting into the car  :swear:
