Power Steering Fluid Sqirtiting out Filler Cap

Looks like my Power Steering Fluid is squirting out the little breather hole on top of the filler cap. It does not do it when it's cold, once it's hot, I get a mess.
What would cause that? Is it time for a new Power Steering Pump?
I have a little 340......

Maybe overfull      When the fluid gets hot it expands. Does it work ok ?

Any chance you were trying to turn the wheel with the engine off?  Cause it will squirt fluid with the pump not turning...

It works fine. I have not added fluid in years and it's been OK. Just checked the fluid, it's low, does not even touch the dip stick.
I don't mess with it when it's not running.
It's definitely doing it when it's running.

If it is low I would add some to proper levels.

Might just be reservoir is low enough that the return fluid is squirting up or even the pump vanes splashing it up.

Two times on Dodge trucks I have been fooled as to where the fluid was coming from.. Is it possible a spray is just landing at the cap base?

I need to change my story a little. I forgot that I actually DO turn the steering wheel when the car is not running. But that is not when the oil is squirting.
I always back into the garage, I back up onto some little ramps so I can roll out of the garage without starting the car in the garage. As I roll out with the car not running, I turn a bit to the left.

 I always start the car with the hood open and check for anything funky after I start it. Once I had a leak near the carb, I always check that.
Sooooo, it is squirting after it heats up.

It's not just leaking at the base of the cap. There is oil on the inside of the hood.......................CRAZY

                 Yea this is crazy. OK, next start up let it heat up, have someone else turn the steering while you observe under hood whats happening. Note hose movement, hose connections, return hose (collapsing),  shaft seal. Have assistant lock steering both directions. This might give some clues.

Maybe its getting to hot which could cause it to build some pressure and push the fluid out , and depending on the age of the pump maybe it does need replaced , but I would replace the cap and make sure it seals and that it has proper fluid level , perhaps if it was say under full for a period of time and it may not have made a noise but still would wear on the pump from just being low over a period of time ,,oil level in the pump should be checked as often as checking oil in the motor

EXACTLY what I'm saying... your leak most likely is elsewhere & just appears to be from the cap...

Did you ever get a chance to test this to see where the leak is coming from?

Sorry to be slow getting back into this, I finally got the beast out, got her hot and had my wife twist the old steering wheel. It is 2 pin holes on the Power Steering Hose. O'Reilly's will have a new one for me on Tuesday, $19.99.

 I appreciate the common sense help, I was really sleeping on this one
