Which would you rather own, a 1970 or 2010 Dodge Challenger?

my coworker a couple month ago bought a new rt 5.7 six speed manual always thought about getting one since there prouduced. then we went to lunch one day in it well I was not impressed maybe the big boy srt8 will make me think other wise so with that note I stick with the oldschool 1970 rt /se 

Yeah I drove a buddies' 5.7 R/T. Maybe it was fast?, but it just didn't feel fast. When you're going fast in my old jalopy it feels fast.
Now an SRT8 is a different story. I feel like my car could hang with it until we hit about 60. After that it would be all SRT8.
All that being said, I'm sticking with my old cars.

I think the recognition from the public falls into play as well.

Majority could see a newer Challenger and say...
"oooooh, nice Chally". 

But when an old e-body is seen on the streets, majority might say...
"holy crap!!! look look look!!! that car is awesome!!! I bet it's super cool to own one of them!!!. Gosh that was bad ass!!! I would give anything to have a ride in that car!!! 
Then brag to their friends what they saw.

I drove my 71 Cuda to the Nats and back 406 miles round trip. On the way home a 2015 Challenger and I were running together about 45 miles on Rt 70. I was leading most of the way and I'll bet most of the people who had us pass them talked all week about the old Cuda they saw on Saturday. I'm not saying they didn't see the new Challenger but the Cuda is the one they'll remember.

There's something to be said about having a car that is unique. Every ebody is unique in their own way; minus stock restos of course. The new challengers are sweet and I'd own one in a heartbeat, but anyone can walk into a dealer and buy the exact same car if they have the cash.

All depends on what you want to do with them.

However if you could combine them....

A nice 70 on the exterior, with some modern hemi power and the great modern suspension/ brakes/ conveniences....It would be one hell of a combo.

I was watching the production numbers, Mopar made 165437 good old Challengers in all 5 years. While by 2013 (six years of production), 224291 new Challengers were made. I found it kinda strange, because the new Challengers were using the looks of the E-Bodies and now they surpassed the production numbers of that legendary car. What were people thinking back then ?

I will tell you what this guy was thinking in 1970:
I was thinking that the $1.95 per hour I was making wouldn't let me pay for one!!
Although I wish I still had the Hemi RR I bought when I got out of the Navy in 72.
Paid $3600.00 with 24,000 miles on it. Sold it in 74 for 3K Gas was just way to expensive! 
But after driving a Hellcat a couple of times (my boss is up to 3 of them now),
I wouldn't turn one down, but also wouldn't give up the "cool" factor of my AAR for anything.
As others have said 2 completely different feelings when your driving them.

Greg, so it was hard to buy a muscle car back then? I've been reading (I wasn't born in the late sixties-early seventies) that most guys could afford the base prices of these cars, but progressively the insurance premiums and in 1973 gas crisis killed every chance for a low - medium paid guy to maintain them.

Chrysler was also late to the party with the ebods relative to the competition.  mustangs, Camaros, firebirds and the like had been around for 3-5 years.  I bet that stole some of the thunder

Unfortunately that kept the production numbers low. Two years before Chrysler would have made a lot more pieces.
