'71 Challenger with HEMI and crossram.....what hood to use?
« on: August 19, 2015 - 01:04:38 AM »
Hey folks...

I am on the home stretch of finishing my 1971 Challenger with a 472 hemi.  I am using the mopar CR intake with Holley quick fuel carbs.

The carbs would never fit under a flat hood, and although I do have a cowl hood, I still don't think its gonna work.

If you have a hemi with a crossram in a 71 Challenger.......what hood are you using?

Thanks much!

Edit for this.....the hood is off for easy access to the motor bay.....

Hey guys, yeah I thought about it but that was about it. I am running the single barton intake on the 572 and it is a challenge on its own. I plan on running this set-up with the r/t hood as it sits the hood will close but I would like to have about a half inch more clearance so it will need to be tweeked a little more. if the center hood brace was removed I would have room for sure but not sure the effect of removing it. if I had an old hood I remove it to see what happens, maybe ill find one and try it.

I`d build a custom hood.  Maybe something like Oldschool has on the beast.  Something special under the hood... might have a special hood as well   :2cents:
