I recently discovered that my air cleaner base hit my distributor cap, so I ordered some 1/2" spacers off eBay. Well, they would work but I ended up with a lot of moving parts, I have the throttle body adapter, then the 1/2" adapter and then the air cleaner, so I decided to connect the throttle body adapters and the 1/2" spacers. I drilled 3 holes in each and used 6x32 stainless screws. It doesn't look like much but took quite a lot of time. I got to use my new (ish) hand tap tool which after some fiddling worked really well. I am pleased with the results and now have less crap sliding about.

Ive gotten a few things done on the car, had to replace the pinion yoke to a 7290 and order a driveshaft. I also got the rear valance installed and the wheels painted. Still have quite a few things to do, unfortunately summer has impeded on my build time.

Even with the good weather, it seems difficult to get anything done. I attribute this to all of the "honeydos" and emerging home projects that always seem to take precedence over working on the car. Despite that I have managed to get some small things down. I am waiting on the new driveshaft (I went with an aluminum shaft from the Driveshaft Specialist out of San Antonio. Once I have that (assuming it fits, which it should) I will be able to then install the exhaust. I finished the wiring up and discovered some "gremlins" that I need to chase down and get corrected. I am still waiting on the interior as well, but that works out because I need to get the wiring sorted before installing the seats.

Once thing I meant to do from the beginning was install some under hood gauges to allow me to monitor the engine vitals while working on it. My original intent was to make a "cluster" with a mechanical oil pressure gauge, water temp gauge and tach. Well, after some thought and discussion with friends, I arrived at the conclusion that all I really need is the oil pressure gauge. I can use a infrared heat gun for the temp and my timing light has a tach on it. Therefore, I made a mount and installed a oil pressure gauge under the hood.

For anyone watching this, basically whats left is to fix the electrical issues, fill all the fluids, bleed the brakes and clutch, install the exhaust, prime the engine and attempt to start it. So close but so far....

Thanks all. Yes the little things do take a long time especially when it comes to wiring. Thus far I have basically fixed 1 or 2 things a day; yesterday it was the right door dome light switch and brake lights.

Hopefully today I can get the turn signals sorted. I am using an aftermarket hotrod 32" tilt steering column that uses the GM style of wiring which was a direct plug in to my wiring harness. I now believe that it is either wiring incorrectly or is grounded out internally, so I am disassembling it slightly to get at the wires so I can test them.

I feel your pain.  Fortunately you can troubleshoot it yourself :worshippy.  That engine bay is looking great.

Thanks. I am working through it. I had an issue with my turn signals blowing the fuse, fount out one of the wires in the column (aftermarket street rod type) had a cut in it of course down in the tube. I was able to pull a new one through and replace it. Not sure if is fixed or not but we will see. Got to knock them down one at a time.

The war rages on; I am continuing to clean up some wiring issues but am making progress. I did get an early Xmas present yesterday, my driveshaft arrived. I ended up ordering an  aluminum shaft from the Driveshaft Specialists our of San Antonio. I haven't installed it yet, may today so we will see. It has a 7290 solid joints and slip yoke.

Thanks. I am waiting on new 7290 U joint straps. I've got the backup lights sorted out but am having some issues with the fuel pump.It works ok but the ECU isnt kicking it on, I do have a manual switch in the system which did work, now it it doesn't. I need to go back and check the wiring again, perhaps I mixed something up. I managed to get the ignition wiring sorted out I think, the MSD does come on as it should when cranking at least so we will see. Unfortunately I had to remove the center console to get to my ignition wiring, I am going to leave it out until I know the car runs.

The guy doing my seats went in for surgery today to have a part of his foot removed, so it might be a little while for them. I have received my RP lube for the rear end and the trans, the engine is full and primed (showed 80 psi).

Once I get the U joint straps I will install the driveshaft and then can work on the exhaust.

It can certainly feel like a war at times for sure. In my case, I hate to say it but I have been procrastinating quite a lot recently. I did manage to get my driveshaft installed and am now working on the exhaust. I am using a 2 1/4" 304 stainless kit from Magnaflow. Overall, its a decent kit but I have some challenges such as getting the pipes over the rear end due to my triangulated 4 link set up. I am waiting on a piece of 2 3/4 stainless tubing, this will be put into the collector adapters as the collectors on my TTI headers are that size as is the initial opening of the adapters. I will weld in a small piece that extends about 1" into the collector, the gasket goes over this extension. The purpose is multi faceted, first is that it makes getting the gasket on significantly easier (not that it is all that hard) but most importantly it reduces the chance of the gasket from blowing out because the extension takes most of the abuse and pressure. When I was a kid I worked at an exhaust place and notice that many vehicles had this type of set up on stock exhaust. I never understood why headers/collectors didn't use a similar arrangement because "back in the day" headers blew out gaskets pretty frequently (at least they did for me ant the guys I ran with). I will post some pictures of what I am doing.

In the mean time I am working on the vast array of household and home projects assigned to me by my foreman/boss/chief financial officer and domestic action coordinator (aka wife)

I hear you.  We've been going through some strange humid and rainy weather on the east coast and it just simply slows us down.  The domestic projects have mounted and the patience is thin.
