A buddy of mine and fellow member here (Crash340) did some testing for me and here is his results, you might find it interesting.
I have the following wires coming from my battery
1) Starter cable(heavy)
2) Power to the amp meter so it's also connected to the black wire which used to come from the alternator but now stops at the bulkhead connector, so this red wire from the battery via the starter solenoid and through the fusible link provides all constant and switched power to the ignition switch, lights, dash etc.
3) Constant power directly to the EFI ECU
4) Constant power directly to the CDI
5) heavy cable to the alternator
6) fuel pump supply (draws 15A running)
Current to the switch
• The ignition switched to acc, wire 2 draws 5.9A
• During start (cranking) it draws 15A
• After start engine running it draws 4A
During running the EFI ECU draws 1.2A (wire 3)
During running the CDI draws 2.5A (wire 4)
I am going to install a relay to be safe.
