Thanks for the info on the buckets. Are you using the cuda sliders as the adjuster? (on the side) Or are you using the neon adjuster that I believe is in the front? Also wondering about clearance to the steering wheel, and ease of getting in and out of the car. Reason I ask is I bought some late model challenger buckets years ago and now realize that they are unusable without modifying the floor... :(

I removed all of the Neon adjuster/sliders which left just a bracket that bolts to the seat frame. I think welded the factory Cuda adjusters/sliders to that bracket. Hope that makes sense. I will try and get you a picture later.

As to clearance, I believe they would be good but I am using a tilt wheel so it isnt an issue for me. With the column/wheel straight (as it would be w/o the tilt) it has clearance, again I will try and get a picture.

I went with Wesco belts. The problem I ran into is that I had some belts made for the car by a Mopar guy local to me. He uses the old style mechanical lock style belts; meaning that you pull them out and upon allow some belt to retract they lock. The problem here is that once you have the belt locked in (like on you), the belt will not provide any slack until the belt is unlocked and allowed to completely (or mostly) retract which in turn disengages the lock allowing to be pulled out again. Modern seat belts as you know use inertia to lock which is what I wanted. The belts I had made use the original hardware which was/is nice from an ascetic point but not so much on the safety or convenience side.

I just saw a picture of your Cuda in Mopar Connection, congrats!!

I need to do some tuning on the car, it is running rich. I have adjusted what I can in the ECU but I think it just needs to be driven. I am also going to swap out the plugs. Edelbrock recommended RC12YC (or an equivalent) but stock LA motors usually run a RC14YC (or equivalent) which is 2 steps hotter. I am thinking a hotter plug may help with some of the rich condition and allow the engine to idle a little smoother. It runs and idles but is not happy as the ECU is trying to make adjustments constantly (adding or subtracting fuel). The AFR is around 14.3 and there aren't any exhaust leaks.

So here is an update for anyone who might be following along;

- Engine is running, but needs some tuning as it is running rich. a good part of this is the ECU trying to learn the set up. I believe I am running too cold of a spark plug as well so I am going 2 steps up (RC-12YC to a RC-14YC, actually I am going to a NGK product FR4). I am hoping this will help.

- Power steering: my PS system experiment is a failure I think. It does work but the pump is noisy and the regulator does not seem to do squat. Also it is far more complicated than it needs to be, so I will be going back to a stock pump set up. Of course I cannot just put a stock pump on... I intend to make a turn buckle tensioning system for it as I hate the original "slip and tighten" system. This will be a relatively easy set up I think, I will post pictures when I do it.

- Seat belts: I have to install my new 3pt belts but I think I am going to have to make an extension for the retractors due to how the factory mounting points are on the floor. For those interested, I went with Wesco belts which are inertia type belts. I am using a 8" extender off the roof which seems about right to get the belts to lay over my shoulder when seated.

- Blinkers: I had an issue when I first installed the column in where my blinkers would blow the fuse every time they were activated. I pulled the column and discovered that the blinker (turn signal) feed wire was pinched internally and grounding out. I repaired that and now it doesnt blow the fuse but it doesnt blink either. I have LED turn signals in the front (bottom of the headlight) and the tail lights are LED (fabricated from some big rig LED lights). I switched the flasher relay for both the turn signals and flashers to LED style but now they come on but do not flash. I will try and go back to the old flasher units and see if that helps.

Still have to install the passenger seat as well and do some clean up, but other than that everything else seems to be working.

Oh I will...  :bigsmile:

I got my seat belts installed. I am pretty happy with them, the 8" extension puts the belt right over my shoulder.

I am going to have to replace the MC, I discovered that the one I have is 1 1/32" and I need a 15/16th.
