News:
single carbs make more power, unless you have a tunnel ram intake.
why is that? twins on a hemi sure looks cool. Too bad it`s only a 572. Loose any power and you`ll move backwards at the strip...
Single carbs make more power because its a proven fact on dynos. I suspect there is better fuelatomization and air/fuel flow into the heads, with a single carb. Rarely see dual carbs at a race track, compared to big single Holley Dominators.[/quote Well then it makes no sense that Hemi's came with dual quads, same as Fords FE 427's, and least we forget 4 speed, dual quad, positraction 409. All of which, at one time or another dominated NHRA, and NASCAR. And back then the corporate bean counters would shave a nickel off the cost of building a car, so they would have gone nuts shaving a carburetor. Just sayin.
I would not switch
I'm thinking that you need plenty of carb for a 572 Hemi. What size is on it now?
I guess you are talking about the bath tub manifold? I think they made it with at least three different tops. Here's a pic of one for a 4150 (not the three barrel) which was a 4160, I think.Worked very well as I recall. I think Brad needs one of these to top off his engine
