1970 power steering box, pump, bracket and cooler
« on: September 04, 2015 - 01:27:17 PM »
I have a power steering box, power steering pump, bracket and even a p/s cooler from a '70 Challenger R/T I will likely try to sell. Does anybody know what this stuff might be worth?

Do you still have these parts for sale?

Is the cooler off of a Saginaw or a Federal?

There is a difference on their values.

Federal coolers are exceptionally rare.
In perfect condition, they can be worth up to $400-$500.

Saginaw coolers are being reproduced and are available from Megaparts for about $300.

Federal and Saginaw pumps are all over and even the brackets and aren't considered hard to find.

Yes I still have these parts. I will have to figure out if they are Federal or Saginaw. Any tips on what to look for?

I don't know, but there is a guy in the welcome newbie area  that wants to do a power steering conversion... Might be a good fit for both of you.

Federal is a round resiviour.
So is the TRW which many get confused as it is the same.

The Saginaw is a Teardrop shaped design.

Bracketry changes wether it's Federal or Saginaw depending on engine Ci or year changes.

Basically Federal high pressure line is just behind the pulley. Saginaw high pressure line comes out the back.

If your bracket looks like this and it's a Federal with a cooler, you've got a unique pump.

The pumps are available as is the bracket.
The pulley is expensive on Federals.

MOFISH. If the pump turns out to be a Saginaw I would be interested in buying just the cooler. Let me know at irocrt@hotmail.com

Thanks

The Federal pumps really went up in pricing. $239.00 now.
They were half that a year or 2 ago.
