Fred - the straps polished up ok, not a mirror finish but nice and shiny anyway. They were pretty rusty. I started with the belt sander, followed by 80,120, wet sanded w/400 and 600, then polished with Flitz. I cleared them with clear lacquer  I used POR-15 on my new tank and the bottom side of the new trunk panels and extensions.

Not show quality but very slick looking

Well... many of you know that I've been dedicating all of my spare time to rebuilding my '69 'Cuda... it's been almost 3 years in the making! (the first weekend in June will mark the 3 year mark) Since then, so much has changed!! Figured I'd post a couple before and after shots... and here's a list of what still needs to be done! Seems to be a lot in common with everybody else!

  • Door, roof rail, trunk, and underhood weather stripping
  • Finish up door hardware... locks, windows, turnout windows
  • Exhaust... is that really needed though? :dontknow:
  • Reverse lights... gotta buy new ones... :ack: :newsad:
  • Get an alignment
  • Get front and rear windshields installed... that should be done when I pick it up from the body shop
  • Get her dyno tuned
  • Trace down and fix the oil leak and the coolant leak... :gripe:
  • Touch ups here and there on the interior
  • Install subwoofer mounting and carpet - install subwoofer - installed headunit

I'm sure I'm missing a few things, but I'll update as they're done!!

I think that I am right in the middle of the resto.

Pretty much the body is finished now it is jsut up to me to put it all back together again.  The 318 engine is done and just sitting on a stand for the time being.  Right now I am doing the front end which is the most time consuming thing I have done to this car so far.

Matt
Too many projects and nothing gets done.

Business keeps me buys so progress has been minimal. Finished up the front suspension and put it all back together. Also blacked out the rear tail panel area in Organosol. I used the Penstar rattle can stuff, layed down nicely but seems a bit more dark gray than actual black. Shame too, the texture is real nice on it. Not sure I'm going to change it or not yet.

My buddies at the body shop got around to lightly sanding and buffing/polishing the car. Had a terrible amount of overspray on it and it's been sitting for 25 years so normal clay wouldn't take it off. Paint is just amazing on this car. Pictures don't do it justice. I know it's not eveyrone's cup of tea, but whover painted this car was damn good. These pictures are from a real overcast day. This car is going to glow in the sun.  :eekbig:

360madness is going to meet me tomorrow to look at my left rear quarter nightmare with me.  :banghead:
I did a thread earlier called ...A new quarter. It was best recommended that I wait till I have a new whole quarter repop. The Hemi is home now. The 340 is for sale. I hope to take some of the money from it to buy the exhaust manifolds for the Hemi. This week end, I plan to put some pics of it in on engines/parts for sale.
