Dash pads - 73 challenger
« on: September 11, 2015 - 04:00:00 PM »
I know this has been discussed a lot but looking for a dash pad for my 73 challenger. Looked on roseville and didn't see any listed, do they still sell them? Last I heard was they were around 600 + core charge? I'm going to send Dave a pm now...

If they don't who do you recommend I buy through?

Although difficult, you can deal directly with Ultimate Rides or go the Just Dashes route.

Does Roseville still sell them? Waiting for a response from Dave...

If not, what brand were they selling?

I would never deal direct with UR.
Their quality is spotty at best, I bought through Dave and it was worth it.
He followed up with the 4 seperate pads I had to go through.

I have no doubt UR wouldn't have made good if not for Dave.

...and that's exactly why Dave doesn't carry them any more.

when I began to look for a pad for my car, I (like everyone) looked at everything out there. I was told by several professional restorers that "if" you can get a good UR pad they are great, however they are an absolutely nightmare to deal with and unless you have the ability to look at several and choose the best one, you might get something you don't like (very likely if you are ordering online). They said that Just Dashes were typically much nicer and slightly faster (evidentially a relative term in the dash pad world as they all seem to move at glacier like speed). Subsequently I opted for a JD pad which a friend (Mopar restoration guy) was going to select at spring fling in LA. I sent the core and the $$, turns out JD didn't have the one I wanted (70 Cuda 1 speaker) there or one that was nice, my buddy asked him to "select a nice one" to which JD said he would the next week and eat the shipping since he didn't have one. Well 3 or 4 months latter the pad did arrive and I will say it is very nice, not puffy or misshapen in anyway.

Roseville doesn't deal in dash pads anymore. I believe dealing with the spotty quality of the supplier(s) made it non-profitable.

Confirming that Dave told me that he does not handle dash pads any longer. He did a group sale for c-c and I think that was too much hassle, getting good stuff.

I got my dash through Dash Pad Pros, which is a store front for Ultimate Rides. Did all my dealing with someone named Tim.
Tim was very responsive to emails. They also sell through ebay under the seller name 4thepool.
They claim shipping after four weeks, but mine didn't ship for eight weeks because the first one didn't come out as "first quality".
The one I received isn't perfect. It has a couple of flaws if you look close enough. But it'll do for me.

Lately i have not been on the forums over the weekend. but you guys are Correct we no longer handle E body dash pads. Sorry to say but dealing with an inferior vendor irritates me to no end. I have tried for 8 years to Keep Dash pros. Dash masters, Ultimate rides business flowing, But at the end of the day I cant spend all my time chasing a vendor and customer issues. Although I am sitting on 10 cores the UR ironically doesn't have the cash to take them back.
Its a shame as I have told him many time. His grain is better than JD but the QC issues kill him. His initial process is better than JD. If he only had the attention to detail that they need on every pad not just when there is an issue he would have an awesome product.

Yes I agree...if only the business side of UR was run better, with better QA, they would have a great product :2cents:

I think I can speak for everywhere here when I say that it's good to know that you look out of your customers. I'm definitely disappointed that I can't deal with you on this, but I also completely understand your reasoning.
