Another Newbie here to say hello!
« on: September 15, 2015 - 09:28:01 AM »
Hello everyone!  It has been my dream to own a Cuda and I'm getting very close now.  I have my eye on a 1970 BH23 Barracuda that was an original 383 and now a 440 automatic.  The guy replaced the original hood with a fiberglass & shaker.  Question to you guys, what would you pay for this?  I've struck a deal and just want to be sure I'm doing the right thing.  Thanks!!!

Welcome aboard...       As 69ChargerRT said - I will let others that are smarter than me speak to it's worth.  Whatever you paid, it is a very sweet ride....

Welcome to the site! Restoring these cars properly is extremely expensive. Value of the car is greatly affected by the quality of the build.

Thanks guys, do appreciate it.  The seller has sent me tons of pics and videos.
The lines look good and straight, sounds nice and tight.  I've got visions of some nice rims and wide tires and maybe a rear window louver!

That's the beauty of an non-numbers match B'Cuda.  Do want you want to it, make it your know and drive the heck out of it!   :2thumbs:

You may want to create a separate thread under WIW (what's it worth), add a bunch of pics/video, and see if you get more feedback on your price question.

Agreed, but I would add that the term "restore" is kind of loosey-goosey. Ask yourself (and then tell us when you answer :-) ) what your goal is. Do you want a driver, or a show queen? Show queens cost a lot money, and while they're fun to look at I don't get much else out of them. On the other hand, if you're untethered to the idea of something being original, you can have a lot of fun and accomplish your goal a lot more cheaply.

Love the car.  :2thumbs:

Just want to add from personal experience that pictures often don't tell the full story.  Have someone you trust actually put hands on it if you can.    :2cents:

I want something for cruise nights and that I can bring to local charitable car shows for "fun".  Something that sounds nice, looks good, and drives well.  I don't want to put too much in to it that I end up losing money.

So, here is my plan on this car (by the way, I pick it up Sunday), right away 18" front and 20" rear American Racing Torq Thrust polished rims, not sure how wide of a tire I can go in the back but want to go as wide as possible for that big stance look.  Going to put some air shocks in the rear to lift the back up.  Might end up pulling the engine and detailing it, new headers, and then work on the interior (small tears in the rear seats) over the winter.  It's not an original shaker but that was something I was looking for.

I'm picking the car up for $30K, which I think is pretty good, ???

There is a very long thread on tire/wheel package fitment, which is probably worthwhile for you to check out.

Welcome aboard  I think that for a Barracuda (being more expensive that a Challenger) the price is very good.
