70 BH INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS R THEY OVERHEAD OR IN PANEL?
« on: September 17, 2015 - 04:02:26 PM »
My 70 BH does not appear to have INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BULBS IN THE CLUSTER. There are (3) small bulbs overhead the cluster which illuminate GREEN light down onto the cluster and they dim/brighten with the dimmer switch. All I have for bulbs on the back of the cluster are, OIL, BRAKE and HIGH BEAM. I think I already know the answer to this, but I have to ask for ya'lls confirmation on this.

Secondly, where is the GROUND TO THE PANEL or is it grounded out with the mounting nuts?  :clueless: Thanks.

P.S. When I joined cuda-challenger in 2010 I had a 70 Grand Coupe but sold her, hence the user name and Y I am asking questions about my newest acquisition my 70 BH. Sweet! :blah:

Yes everything you describe is correct. On the switch panel, the lower outside screw grounds the switches. The instrument housing grounds to the dash frame.
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

BTW, I would upgrade to 1816 bulbs.  They do not run any hotter and provide 3x more light to see the gauges.  Some also go with LED's but they are sometimes too bright.
