Front disc brake hose routing wrong?

Thread size is probably different or different depth

I just measured what I have, looks like 7/16 OD thread X 20 for the male hose thread end that goes into the calipers.
The banjo bolt I ordered was the same, but on the depth it's 1-1/16 long. I'm not sure if that's too long or short? Agh....

The problem you have with using a banjo bolt type hose it normally the banjo style hose is either mounted to a recessed area so the line prevents the fitting moving or the line has a clamp to locate it.... If you use a banjo without preventing the line from twisting the line can cause the banjo bolt to loosen....
Not a good thing...

As far as FMJ doing it with the line & the caliper on the same side of the steering axis, I just did a search for photos.. Found quite a few street rods with the old Aspen/Volare clip the had the lines done the wrong way but not a single Volare, Aspen, Mirada, St Regis with the line & the caliper on the same side of the steering axis...

Anyway, yeah move the calipers back where they belong...

If there was a real reason such as sway bar interference I'd say rear mount & move the steel line... Or do the typical cheat & mount it to the rear & use a long enough hose to not have a issue with it...

I dId check caliper clearance to front sway bar and it did look OK. I'm sleeping on this my little brain works like the old video game Pong in beginner mode real slow. THANKS WILD.

OK So I am wrong FMJ use front mount calipers but I can tell you for sure that I have done this numerous times on 67-69 B body cars where the front mount caliper interferes with the sway bar so using the spindles reversed so the caliper sits towards the rear with a banjo mount hose , but I have never used pin type calipers just sliders .
 One of the main differences though is the Banjo type caliper has a lock tab beside where the hose connects to prevent it from twisting loose as Wild said so this is still not a good plan IMO , in 20 mins & you can swap the spindles over & use what you have

Yup, I think your right about this. Swapping the spindles, moving the calipers to the front would be best. You guys are right on the banjo connection, my rear discs do have a notch on the caliper that holds the hose connection from moving. Here is a picture of the 73 charger hose I was going to use. It has a flat spot to hold it from rotating. Thanks for your time and effort in doing reaserch to help me get this right! Thanks to all for your input and advice! Now I just gotta get my butt off this couch and go into my sweat box the garage, it's supposed to be 102 today! Plus they are usually a little low! I'm ready for fall. Thanks again Jim

This thread brings back memories from my re-assembly when I put my spindles on backwards.  I used an illustration in my shop manual and one other publication which was not correct.  I spent about an hour and changed sides to make it right.

OK, Only have the drivers side done. Caliper is to the front now. Brake hose routing is clean with no kinks. Caliper clears sway bar and strut, everything fits and clears as it should. This is much better! Thanks for your help and advice. Jim
