Enclosed trailer
« on: September 20, 2015 - 11:04:17 AM »
I'm in the market for a trailer to go up to Chicago and get the Challenger we just bought.  I don't know much about trailers but I found this one nearby. It's got the 5200 lb. axles and new sells for $4895.00.  I haven't seen it yet but he says he's "somewhat" flexible on the price. Is there anything I should look for ?  Any idea, if it looks good what I should offer   :clueless:

looks to be in good condition. Maybe check the tires for weather checking. Some of the China stuff just does not hold up. I would go up and look it over and look for any scuffing and insure no hidden problems, check lights and brakes, but it sure looks good. Offer him $4200, may be a tad low, but once a number is out there it is always negotiable. Cash in hand always looks good.

A few years ago, I bought a new tilt be trailer and it is large enough to haul my backhoe, yet still has low profile for loading cars and it was like $5500.

Let us know how it goes

Offer him $4200,

The ad says $4000, no sense in offering him more. You must have made a typo error AARTA340.   :)

I think that's a good deal too. If it were me I would offer him $3500 cash, I bet he would take it if you showed him the cash. Even if you had to come up from there I think you are getting a good deal.

$10 says that's gone by Monday.

Yup, asleep at the keyboard, LOL. I seen the "new price" and failed to see the price in the ad, too busy looking at pictures. :banghead:

I agree, offer up $3500 and be on it, as it will be gone quick for that one. :2thumbs:

Thanks guys, yea I had email with him. He told me he takes care of his stuff. I researched the brand, it's quality built. I'll put $3500.00 in my right pocket and flash it, $500.00 in my left pocket for haggling.   :smilielol:

Thanks Murray but I'll be keeping it for the duration. Will be bringing the Challenger up to Carlisle in it next July. And when not in use it will be excellent for storing some stuff in outside the shop, maybe even a car.

Well, we picked it up today. Except for a few minor scratches on the sides from tree branches it looked like new. Then I found out it's a model year 2014, came with a new spare tire/wheel, extra side tie downs, brakes on both axles , 5500lb axles. So he was asking 4K. So i went with $3500.00 in my right pocket, $500.00 in my left pocket. So we get there, I get out of the truck to talk to the guy and see if I can haggle. Well I'm not talking to the guy for 2 minutes and Bruce is backing up and hooking it up to the truck.   :smilielol:   Well I boldly whip out the $3500.00 and said will you take this, flashin the cash. By this time Bruce has the dang thing hitched and is checking the lights.  :roflsmiley:  The guy looks past me at Bruce, smiles and says " Nope, I want $4000.00. I have $5800.00 in it.   End of story.  It's a very nice trailer.  On the way back I said to Bruce, rather sternly " THANKS BUDDY "   :stomp:  He calmly looked over and said " It was coming with us wether you liked it or not "  Ya just gotta know Bruce to understand.    :smilielol:    :roflsmiley:                     :rebel:

Had some time to look it over this morn. Very well constructed, very strong. Tires are knee deep in rubber. All in all very happy.  :cooldancing:  Now, about those hub caps.    :roflsmiley:         :rebel:
