Will there ever be a West Coast Carlisle?

Back in the late eighties, there were some really good Mopar attendance at shows down in L.A.
The enthusiasm seems to have waned over the years. No comparison to Carlisle.

It died out it seems and it never recovered to what it was then.

Can we ever get it back together again out here?

We have to much space between towns out here... East of the Mississippi they have about 33% of the land in the continental US but they have more than 58% of the people....

We also have guys like me who have gotten very bored with attending car shows.... Guys who would much rather go for a drive.... I've attended quite a few Spring & Fall Flings cause they are some of the best shows on the west coast... But also they are a 700 mile round trip so I get in a good drive too...

If someone could put together another show up around Tahoe/Kirkwood/somewhere high in the Sierra I'd bring a whole lotta guys/gals out... Car shows in the zoo they call the bay area?  No thanks.... To much traffic and way to many tree huggers that hate our cars..

I remember, Power in the Pines car show in Grass Valley.
What a great show back then.

I remember doing a car show in L.A. and going to the Shelby design and test center.
Those were the days.

I never see anyone even look over their shoulder at my car while driving.
Even new Challeners drive by without a wave.

The closer to East Bay,  the more high thumbs I get I've noticed.

I rode my VMAX to a Power In The Pines show, 87 or 88 I can't remember which. I recall a black T/A there with black stripes on it. It was a long ride from B.C.
We've been going to the MATS the past few years. Not sure if it's worth going to next year or not. It's too early to drive my car down (still chance of bad weather) and I don't like trailering it. I wouldn't consider bringing a car to an urban setting in Ca. Sacramento is about as far down as I would consider taking a car.

I've got pictures of a black T/A with red stripes at the show, don't recall a Blk/blk T/A but I do recall a Blk/Blk AAR... & a Blk/White 71 Hemicuda...

Another thing to consider: back in the day, people went to big shows not only to see the cars and show their cars but also to look for parts. The internet, craigslist and even ebay have taken a lot of the wind out of those sails. It's a lot easier now to sit in your home and drink a beer while you search.

I wish we had a west coast/nor cal event like carlisle. The only "big one" that I hear people talk about out here is Hot August nights in Reno. I personally don't care for Reno in August.
Tahoe would be great for an event, the location alone is worth going to.

This has definitely change things, to me it's much easier to sit and click. Jim
