Even in the 70's we were modifying stuff.....This is a bike my friend had as a kid....Back then he had the forks extended 6" and re-chromed. Had the frame professionally painted black.

I ran into him at a funeral on Sunday. The first time in 15 years or so....We started talking about the good ol' days....I couldn't believe when he told me he still had his bike...sent me this picture today.

CCM was an initialism for Canada Cycle & Motor Co. Ltd, I don't think these bikes were available in the States.

Your style was a little different from the schwinn stingrays we had in the US. Banana seats similar to picture two, but with the glitter vinyl. Mine had the rear slicks, and I usually clothespinned cards to flap the wheel spokes. I had a green one and an orange when that one was stolen.

That was such a long, long, long time ago.
I found one picture from when I was 7 years old and I can not remember anything about the bike.
It looks similar to the type of bikes your talking about.   Just ignore the basket on the front.

The orange one was a Supercycle "The Wedge" sold at Canadian Tire. Obviously made by CCM. They also made a blue version sold through Sears.

never saw their bikes, just their hockey skates and equipment.  Great pics, I had a Raleigh Chopper as a kid.  Wish I still had it.
