Who would you have build your stroker 451???

So now I've decided on the engine I want. A 451 stroker is my choice after listening to the pros and cons. Seems like the perfect combination.

Question is who would you have build it? Or have you had build you an engine with great results?

I guess it depends where you live?  There is a local Mopar guy that builds engines in my area here in Michigan but I think he is having some health issues  . . . so I would probably go with Muscle Motors in Lansing Michigan when I get to the small block I want to build for the hardtop.

Why not buy one built from a place like Indy Cylinder Head ?

I'll be building mine. I've done it before and there's enough info out there to cover the knowledge gaps regarding new procedures. HOWEVER, if I win the big lotto, Ray Barton is getting a call, I don't care what you say!

I can easily assemble any engine but having machined properly is the key , buying the tools to do that is waaay out of reach

Agreed... And finding a machinist that hits the numbers right is a rare thing... When you find one make sure he knows you appreciate his attention to detail..

I'll save my money by NOT dealing with INDY CYLINDER HEAD after reading some of the shady dealings I've read on-line. I know there are two sides to every story but there's enough B.S. out there to make me afraid to deal with them.

As far as building my own let's just say I'm not going to gamble I can do EVERYTHING right. Relying on someone else to build the engine is not a problem for me. Guys that do it all the time KNOW what to do and in what order. I am not willing to waste time and money figuring it out.

Word is INDY can make some incredible parts that you can have machined to be REALLY GOOD. But as far as them actually building a quality engine they will stand behind (doesn't look good) they have screwed ALOT of guys over and I'm not getting in line to be next.

I've heard some good things about a few others and just wondered who has used someone they would recommend. Building an engine is easy It's how you handle the problems that come up and how you treat a customer that really matters. I want to spend my money with a reputable company who will stand behind the engine they build.

I haven't had any personal experience with Indy....That was just the first company's name that came to mind. What I meant was why not go with one of the "bigger" companies that offer complete, proven, ready to run packages, instead of finding some guy that throws a bunch of stuff together thinking it will work

I am one of many who admit to their self they are not capable of building their own reliable engine. Its not the average car guy who has the knowledge, experience, tools, time, space and motivation to do the job right. I wish I did but I dont, and Ive got too many other things vying for my time, so....
I will be following this thread for suggestions

I think Strawdawg used Carolina engines
 I have no issues with Eric @ Muscle Motors either .

It's really not that hard to do yourself. You basicly have to mock it up about three times to check everything to fit in stages. I have built a few hundred myself. But I am not getting any younger. I have 3 to build now
