I'm going to pull it this coming weekend, I have the original third member sitting in storage, its an open centre but for the short term I know its fine with no issues so I can stay cruising till its sorted and will give me a chance to inspect the side gears.

Ok, pulled the center out over the weekend, here is a quick vid of the sidegear movement, it still has oil in it so once cleaned I should expect more movement, the oil is clean, no metalic fleck, the center has done 2000 miles behind a facotry low powered 73 340 with 90K Miles on it and a 727.

it can be fixed but at what cost ? I assume there is no warranty left ?
 You would think the side gears would be supported with a far stronger design , I bet Brad could machine it up with a stronger design .

Im sure Brad could, the bigger issue is my location  to send it back freight alone is damn near the cost of another, I'm liaising with the good man Cass, hopefully he can help somehow, I purchased it it Jan last year and as indicated its only done 2000 miles and has been noisy since it went in, I have been chasing uni joints pipes, shocks all sorts of things rather than this as a last resort.

I understand all too well where you are located , I am in a similar situation here in Panama , I wonder how the design  could be strengthened

I wonder if a custom bushing/spacer could be made to fix this, problem is you would have ta take it all apart to see if it's possible.

Maybe a cup to hold the side gear in place . we need a damaged one to take apart & see what could be done to improve it .

Ok, update time.......

first and foremost a huge shout out has to go to our man Cass of Dr Diff. As most of you know Im down here on a little island. I had arranged for a shop owner out of WA to gather a pile of upgrade gear for me including an Eaton Trutrac so as I could pack it and ship it on my next visit there so as all items were pre placed effectively. He purchased the TruTrac from Cass. So two years later after a lot of back and forth between Cass and myself chasing this noise I finially discoved the issue and let Cass know. Cass could have told me to simply go back to the guy I bought it from and good luck but he didnt. Without any pressure I simply asked Cass could he ask Eaton what can be done on my behalf. To this end Cass did and advised after a couple of weeks that Eaton were sending a new replacement unit out and that I didnt have to ship the faulty unit back (freight at my end was going to be $200 to ship it back and so on). well that was last week, Im on holidays but my work mate just sent me a message that the new one has turned up for me at work allready.

NOW, THAT IS SERVICE!!!!!!!! Thanks Cass, Thanks heaps and also thanks to Eaton.

I glad Cass & Eaton stepped up & took care of you... But I'd like to know if there has been a design change to support the side gear for axial loading, or was there a isolated problem with your unit? It sounds like yours wasn't the only one.... Jousi reports having the same issue....
