Crash340, great news that you get a new unit! Hopely that problem will be sorted in the new unit.

I checked Eaton pages, their lockers carry a 1 year warranty. I bought my complete 489 differential housing with Truetrac from Dr.Diff at end of 2012, and installed it at spring 2013... So I shall continue with these: :)

BH23G1B TX9 5.7 Hemi+5-speed
JH23J0B FC7 4-speed
BS23R0B TX9 auto

UPDATE time,

Ok, changing direction, I have just picked up a Dana 60 housing locally out of an F250 so I'll build one of them with a TruTrac instead,,,,,,,,,,,,, reason being. The replacement TruTrac Eaton sent out is no better, just as much movement in the side gears as the previous and thats brand new in box. Cass spoke to them at SEMA, showed them my short video's of both, they claim its within tollerance. Cass is arguing with them its no, Cass has also advised that the Dana centers from Eaton and Strange do not have the same movement so,,, Im going that route!

Bummer sorry to hear about the added expense. Neil talked me into the new Dana , advising me to sell the 8 3/4 and go with an all new Dana from Cass. No regrets.  :2thumbs:

yeah Brad, several people have tried the same but it just wasnt a direction I wanted to head down, it was easier to get hold of a B Body diff to simply throw in it rather than cutting, welding and so on, if Eaton could just get their S&%t in a sock I wouldnt have to and I dont want to use a locker or clutch type as I really like the way the TruTrac functions. anyway, i picked up the 60 for $175.00 plus freight at about $100.00, I'll sell off the 8 3/4 stuff to fund it, might even make this one shorter for less backspace and a bigger dish , might even go a taller ratio like 3.9 or similar to suit the new motor. I'm not sure whats in the Dana, it might even have a suitable ratio, will check when it gets here.

As long as it's a clutch style, not a cone style... Cone style was junk when new & most are plain worn out....

a "cone" style like a 489? Just use a crush sleeve eliminator and it is exceptionally strong. I have both styles and have rebuilt both styles and with the right parts they all work well depending on what you are using them behind. That said, 8.75 rear ends have been used in all facets of racing and behind some big HP.

Call Cass at Dr Diff and talk to him about sure grips; he is a wealth of knowledge and will tell you the ground truth about each of the 3rd members.

I think for what you are doing, the Dana is a good choice.
