New guy with '73 Challenger
« on: October 05, 2015 - 05:27:40 PM »
Hi all, glad I found a e-body forum. I am 28 from West Virginia and have a '73 Challenger I won a Mecum this past summer that I cannot wait to restore to its former glory.

Sounds neat. Are you looking to put it back to stock original ? If so, what are the details on the car ? Can't be much of a project if it sold at Mecum :dunno:

Yeah, tried uploading some pics but the files were to big so will go another route. It doesn't need to much just some odds and ends. It's all original besides the paint. Was repainted once in the early 80s and could def stand to have it done again back to its original jf8 color. 318 in it, want to beef it up, slap stick shifter, green vinyl top and interior. Runs and drives good. Got it on the Friday when it wasn't big money going across the block.

Replaced: headlights and high beam switch, fuel sending unit, leaf springs, wheels, tires, and radiator.

Welcome from CO! Nice looking '73!  I like the Mag 500's better than the Rallye's!   :2thumbs:   :ylsuper:   :cooldancing:

I would be interested to hear more about your experience at Mecum sometime too.

Thanks! I just put them on over the weekend and wasn't going to let a little rain stop me.

Mecum was crazy, I would suggest it to anyone if even to just be a spectator, which is what I started as until I saw this car and knew I had to have it especially after anyone who walked up to it picked it apart and talked bad about it. It's so fast paced and can't wait to go again next year and this time really just watch! So many vehicles that don't get televised and so many cars that you can't believe you see.

What I'm looking to do included with repaint is get a 340 for it or rebuild the 318 into a 400hp sleeper. Put a power bulge rallye hood on it, as well as duals.

Anlauto the reserve was in the 20's but the seller didn't want to transfer it back to Florida so I must say, I got very lucky.
