New 73 Challenger owner

Hey All-

In the process of buying a 73 Challenger together with a 73 Roadrunner. The Roadrunner will be used for parts towards the Challenger build, and it comes with a 360/4spd, 3:91 posi rear end, factory AC and lots of other parts. New to Mopars but not to muscle cars.

By the way, does anyone know off hand if the rear end with axel from the Road Runner fit the Challenger (in length side to side).

It looks good from a distance, but it's really rusted out. Trunk is shot, and the door pillars by the hinges are gone too. About the only good panel on it is the hood! Plan on parting that out along with the glass.

 Well if somebody really wanted to put the labor into it, of course it can be done, but to me it's just not worth it. Plus the motor is not the original 340 that came with the car. It would take a ton of work.

B Body rear end is wider. What rear end does the Challenger have ? If they both have 8 3/4's you can swap the gears really easy

I think shelbydog has a B body rear in his pace car.  Not sure.

Early B bodies are about 1 1/2" narrower then an E Body, but the later B Bodies, like this one, are about 1 1/2" wider then an E Body

Welcome, Love the RR too!  I have a B-Body width rear end in mine but as Alan mentioned it's the earlier width.

Not sure yet, will be looking at it in the next few days. Trying to get my game plan together now.

That's the info that I was looking for, hopefully I can just swap the gears from one to the other.

99.9% of all 73 Challenger had 8 3/4 rear ends so it's just a matter of what rear end is under the Road Runner, and why do you think it might have better gears ?

I've seen documentation that the RR has a posi 3:91 rear end. But not sure what is in the challenger yet, I assume it is a taller gear since it is an automatic body.
