    Playing with an old school Ricer

    Hope this link works. This was my last project before I got my current project of the challenger build. It was fun as hell to drive and no one knew that it had a V8 until I got on it. I've had many muscle cars in the past, and this one was definitely fun as hell. Don't know how much HP it had, but lots of speed parts were in it. Didn't ever put it on a Dyno.

    You know, that's a pretty car! That's a nice styled coupe and the V8 makes it just that exotic enough. I don't know if I'd've ever parted with that thing. What was it like to get the 302 in it and did it use the Datsun trans or the Ford one?  :cheers:

    Cool stuff! I made a pair of half shafts once for someone that put a V8 in one of those.  :2thumbs:

    Thanks, :cheers:. It was actually an easy fit for the motor, lots of room in the front. I bought a pre-fabricated cradle and transmission mount that bolted right into the frame. This swap has been done so many times that there are lots of people fabricating cradles, headers, custom half shafts and many other parts. I used basically the stock rear end, but it was out of a 300zx turbo, which has the same ring and pinion size, but with limited slip.

    I got on it hard all the time, but never popped the clutch hard for fear of snapping the halfshafts. They can take quite a lot of abuse but I didn't want to find the limit. It was tons of fun to drive.

    Didn't really want to sell it, but ran across a piece of property in Montana that my wife and I wanted badly, so it was given up for the deposit on our retirement dream.

    Thanks. Yeah the half shafts are the weak link in the build, I didn't get too crazy with the stock ones. Would have felt more comfortable with stouter pieces, just more Ka-ching, you know how that goes. :)

    Listening to that at idle. All I can say is if people didn't know there was a V8 in that, they deserved the loss lol.

    I love Datsun/Nissan. Z cars are the only Japanese cars I buy. My first turbo'd car was a single turbo 300zx (Z31) that I bought from a co-worker. He had done a lot of work to it and it was quick for a SOHC but I eventually sold it. Later bought a Z32 300ZX (DOHC) and did a twin turbo swap and built that to about 400hp.

    My mom had a 240 when I was a kid too, that's one of the reasons I got this one. Lot's of good memories.
