old member but new car 1970 challenger 340 updated, video!!!!!
« on: October 13, 2015 - 09:47:39 PM »
Hi again,  i sell my old challenger 73 in 2010,  when my younger son was born, now, 5 years later, i was impatient to get a new one, and with a lot of year of reflexion, i had one model that i wanted to acheive,  a 70 challenger T/A, i wanted to have a 340 cause i want to drive it as much as i can and be reasonalbe with the price of the fuel here in canada

and i dont had the money to buy a real one, so my plan was to built a clone,  but i needed a 70 small block challenger for the beginning

so here i am,  i find this beauty this summer,  a base b5 blue 318 auto challenger that have been cloned to an R/T in the late '80,  all of a donor R/T was given to it,  all the interior,  period correct 1970 engine  340 block and transmission and a 3.23 sure grip rear end

the condition of the cas is still as it was in 1988 (i found some picture of it in 1989)
so now the car is bone stock,  and my planning will be to clone it as a T/A with a lot of upgrade to the engine, suspension and brakes to make it more fun to drive

i will try to upload some pictures of it,  but they are too large i will work on it

but here's a link to see them online

and excuse my bad  english, i used to speak french :)

thank you guys for the comments,  for sure the car look great as is now,  my plan are not ready now since its involed a lot of money,  i want a pro-touring t/a with a 6 pak fuel injection kit,  and the transformation will include a new paint job since the rear stripe is painted and i need to remove it

i will begin to bring some parts  but i dont have a lot of money yet,   the car will stay as is for some year and the first upgrade will be at the suspension and brakes and electronic distributor since i still have the mechanical distributor :)

The challengers look sweet but I love the 71 cuda with the black and shaker hood. They all look great.

thanks guys for the comment,  i miss my car so much, i cant wait to the end of the winter to get it back

this automn i made a video of it with one of my friend who is a car journalist, so here a little video to enjoy the car and the sound :)

this is the french version with me and the english one below

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iwvng7XyjY

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPs8MqILw_o

and since the car will cost me too much to clone into a t/a,  it will stay like this for a few year,  i will update it with 17 ich magnum 500 and a good suspension (just have to wait that the canadian money cost more than 70 cents)

Having built a T/A Clone (and also having owned a real one), I would never do the Clone thing again!  You are going to spend lots of $ without truly adding any value above what you already have!  Yes, it's your car, do what you want to do, just saying……..
