Integral lap and shoulder belts on 74 Challenger.
« on: October 18, 2015 - 09:42:13 PM »
There was a discussion on another thread here about seat belts with integral shoulder.
The 74 model year came factory that way.
Here are some pics of what they look like for those who may be interested in the change from separated pieces. Both belt mounts are ratcheting. I believe the plastic side panel is the same as earlier models with exception of a slice and slotted hole for the belt to come thru. Rectangle filler cap bolts to the belt mechanism.

That's what the previous owner installed in mine, even though it's not correct for a 1970. I wish they hung down another couple of inches or so. Safety wise they are not in a good position. They will break your collar bone in a wreck. I find they are always rubbing my neck. :(

I have a set of those from my last parts car I'm planning to install. Brad, as I recall you have Tiburon seats (?). Do you think those affect how the belt lays across you?

You would also have to come up with an anchor point for the rear retractor. 1970-73 cars don not have anything in that location. Even the front retractor is in a different location in 1970 as well :2cents:

No it was a bother even when I had the stock seats. This is a good read IMO .

IMO, you are out of your mind if you are driving around and haven't done an upgrade to your seat belts.
