70 Challenger Argent grill question?
« on: October 18, 2015 - 09:45:15 PM »
If you got the silver argent grill , was the "center grill" left raw aluminum? Painted black? Painted silver? I ask because I'm redoing mine over the winter and would like to know what's "correct"
Thanks Brad

Pretty sure it's not painted. I don't have an argent one. I'm debating buying one in good shape for $200 and having it restored or just buying one already restored based on the price it costs to have one redone but I haven't been getting any replies on how much it costs

I would describe it as anodized silver/grey. I can't get good shots in the garage with my camera but here's an unrestored argent one and my restored R/T one. You can't really tell but they are both the same colour R/T or standard.

The center of the grill on my 70 Challenger is black with a silver/aluminum colored frame.  I can't tell for sure, but it looks more like raw aluminum vs. something painted.   If it's important for you to know, I'll get a closer look at it - there are lots of pads and covers in the way right now.

Thanks I think the outer rim on the center grill is supposed to be polished? Bright anodizing, shiny.   I think the R/T had black eggcrate but not sure?

the center honeycomb is natural with R/T or Argent surround , the edge is polished , the black went into the second rib around the honeycomb so the first 2 ribs are unpainted .
